TaylorMade R1 Drivers - originally released in 2013 - improved upon the company’s previous driver, the R11S. The R1 Driver offers slightly more ball speed and less spin than the R11S, due to the lower and more forward center of gravity (CG), for a high-launching and low-spinning ball flight designed to maximize overall distance. The 460cc head features a wide and deep face that is more forgiving on mis-hits and suitable for mid to low handicappers. The Adjustable Loft Sleeve provides shot-shaping control for a player to adjust for loft, lie, and face angle that will benefit almost every golfer. The Inverted Cone Technology with Movable Weights lets the sole weighting be adjusted to promote either a straight or draw ball flight.

This driver can be tuned to fit any player, regardless of your playing ability -- a bold move by TaylorMade, but understandably smart. You will first notice the graphics on the top of the club, which stand out compared to other designs. One of the most adjustable drivers on the market, this club provides maximum forgiveness. You can tweak the settings as you need or try some new lofts depending on the course you play. This club has higher pitched sounds than you may be used to, but remember that you are going for distance. With twelve loft options and seven face angle settings, you will be able to adjust the R1 driver to your exact preference.
