• Middle Infielders (Shortstop and 2nd Base): While these positions are farther from the batter, they’re still vulnerable to "bad hops" and collisions with base runners. Many recommend masks for these athletes.
• Outfielders: At the youth level, some leagues recommend masks for outfielders, but at higher levels (13U+), they’re typically not necessary.

Size selection for masks is similar to batting helmets. Measure the circumference of the player’s head and follow the brand’s sizing guide. The mask should fit snugly and cover the entire face, from forehead to jawline. It’s normal for the mask to feel a little tight at first because the padding will soften over time. Use the "Shake Test" to ensure the mask stays in place when moving your head.

• Visibility: Some players worry about visibility while wearing a mask, but most players adjust quickly. With practice, visibility usually isn’t a major issue.

• Hats & Visors: Unfortunately, hats and visors don’t fit with fielder’s masks due to the mask sitting at the hairline. If sun protection is a concern, you must rely on sunscreen and sunglasses.
