Top Competitors

All three are one-piece aluminum bats with a large sweet spot for consistent contact. The Easton Amethyst prioritizes control with its lightweight swing weight, ideal for beginners. The DeMarini Uprising caters to slightly older players who can handle a bat with a bit more potential for power. Finally, the Louisville Slugger Proven offers the most forgiving sweet spot, making it great for players who need extra help making consistent contact.

Progression of the Easton Amethyst Softball Bats

Easton doesn't explicitly list a predecessor for the Amethyst, and past models might be discontinued or renamed. The initial Amethyst bat (introduced in 2018) features the ALX50 Aluminum Alloy construction for durability and a balanced swing weight for control. The large sweet spot aimed to help young players make consistent contact.

Newer Amethyst models incorporates refinements in:
  • Materials: Lighter and stronger alloys for a lighter swing weight and more pop.
  • Barrel Design: Tweaks to the barrel design for a larger sweet spot or a more forgiving feel on off-center hits.
  • Grip Technology: Improvements to the grip material and design for better control and comfort.
👍 Pros
My daughter loves how the bat looks and feels. We’ve had it for two seasons now and it’s still holding up great.
Great bat for my daughter, who runs on the small side. It's really easy to hit and gives her confidence at the plate.
My son loves this bat. He’s very pleased with it even though its’ for softball, he is still able to use it when playing baseball with his friends.
👎 Cons
Dents really easy. My kid hit a home run but could not use the bat again.
During routine batting practice with a coach pitching, my daughter dented this bat so bad.
Daughter used the bat for lass than 2 weeks and it already has a huge dent in it. Very disappointed with the quality.
The Eastern Amethyst is good bat for a beginner who is transitioning to a heavier bat. The Amethyst bridges the gap between lighter bats and models with more pop, making it ideal for developing hitters. Also good for players learning swing mechanics, given that the Amethyst has a balanced swing weight which allows young players to focus on proper mechanics without feeling overwhelmed by a heavier bat. Compared to top-of-the-line fastpitch bats, the Amethyst offers a good value for its price point. Just note, this bat is not the most durable and not the best for super aggressive hitters who constantly swing for the fences.
