The Stallion 1K is the top midfielder head for sure. It's based on the original Stallion design that pro player Kyle Harrison used and designed for that two-way midfielder. The 1K has an improved stiffness, shape retention, and an updated scoop. PLL rookie, Nick Nakeie Montgomery, who ranked 28th in Duke history in career points, also uses this head. I like this head because it can be used both on the offensive side of midfield and the defensive side. It weighs in at about 4.7 oz, making it lighter than the current ECD DNA 2.0, StringKing Mark 2V, and Mark 2T.

The STX Duel 3 is designed for the face-off and stay-on midfielder. This head is made with STX’s Reflex material to help hold the shape a lot longer, so you can continue to use it for offense or defense after the face-off. The top of the head has a slimmed-down scoop that’s designed for face-offs and to make ground balls easier. It has a shorter throat to make the top hand position closer to the ball for more control. It has 4 screw holes on the throat to ensure the head doesn’t rattle.

One of the main reasons why it’s so popular is because it has one of the widest face shapes compared to the other goalie heads on the market. This larger size helps with just about everything a goalie does: clearing, catching, saving, and passing. Even though it's got the widest area, it's still a very accurate head when strung correctly. There’s an abundance of stringing holes for just about any stringing pattern, and creating a pocket with a great channel is super easy.

The Surgeon 500 by STX is one of the most popular heads among attackmen. Its super narrow face shape is one of the best for an attackman. It also features a very stiff scoop, which helps create a channel for increased accuracy on shots, while at the same time helping to generate more power. This head is not legal for current high school or college play, since it does not meet the three-inch throat rule. As a result, the Surgeon 500 is mainly recommended for youth players or adult rec league players, where the rules are not as strict.
