ECD Lacrosse Rebel Lacrosse Heads Frequently Asked Questions

ECD Lacrosse Rebel Lacrosse Heads

The ECD Rebel lacrosse head isn't afraid to shake things up. Available in both offensive and defensive versions, the Rebel caters to players who crave power, precision, and a bit of rebellion.

For attackers, the Rebel Offense boasts a slightly pinched scoop and aggressive flare, promising deadly accurate feeds and scorching shots. Meanwhile, the Rebel Defense focuses on dominance, featuring a tighter face shape for punishing checks, aggressive ground ball pickups, and powerful shots, thanks to its stiff construction. Both options share the Rebel's lightweight design and focus on control, making them well-suited for players who like to dictate the pace of the game.

The Rebel series represents a turning point for ECD, a brand known for its constant innovation and focus on player needs. The Rebel marked ECD's entry into the high-performance head market, carving a niche for players seeking an alternative to established brands.

Designed for offensive versatility, the ECD Rebel Offense competes closely with the Maverik Optik 3.0 and STX Surgeon 900, each offering unique advantages. The Rebel Offense strikes a balance between power and control, featuring a slightly pinched pocket that facilitates strong shots and accurate passing. Its well-rounded scoop aids in ground ball pickups, making it a well-rounded offensive weapon. The Maverik Optik prioritizes power with a deeper pocket and a wider face shape, ideal for players who crank hard shots and value hold for aggressive dodges. Conversely, the STX Surgeon 900 leans towards a traditional approach with a shallower pocket and a balanced face shape, catering to players who prefer a mix of power, finesse, and pocket customization.

What people are saying (edited for brevity and clarity)

PROS

  • I’ve strung both rebel offense and rebel defense heads. It’s by far my favorite head to string and play with.
  • It’s great for mid and low pockets, and very consistent passing and shooting.
  • The pocket was a little shallow at first, but once I broke it in it worked great.

CONS

  • I think the Rebel Offense is a bit too stiff, I prefer a bit more flex for shooting.
  • The stiffness of this head impacts the feel and pocket performance.
  • A bit expensive compared to other options.

Expert Review (by Allen Melick)

This head comes in an offense and defense model. The offense is easy to use. ECD always produces a perfect head. It's made with light and durable material. You can get a lot of use out of the Rebel without really trashing it. And the defensive head is made to be stiff. It won't bend in any way, which defensemen like, especially when playing at the higher level. The more checks you throw, the more warped a head can get. The sidewalls are solid on the Rebel. A player can throw some pretty strong checks.
