* The stiff carbon fiber boot can take some time to break in completely. My ankles were sore during the first few weeks of use.

The M5 Pro is focused on giving a lot of power. Normally, you'd hear a Supreme or Bauer Pro model going for $900+. The M5 Pro is different than that. It has all the Pro features, but for a cheaper price—more of a mid-range level price. So the M5 Pro has all the same comfort features, durability, the ability to change your steel, and the traditional supreme anatomic fit. With the new Fit System mechanisms, the M5 Pro allows you to customize whether you want it wide, narrow, etc.

PROS:



* These skates offer a significant jump in performance over entry-level skates. The Flex Composite boot provides a good balance of stiffness for powerful strides and some flex for maneuverability. They're perfect for skaters who want to improve their game without breaking the bank.
* The Vapor 3X fits true to size and feels comfortable right out of the box. The 40-ounce felt tongue with comfort lining offers good support and reduces pressure points. The asymmetrical toe cap also seems to help with a snug fit around the toes.
* Skate has a good amount of higher end features and has good interior support. We upgraded the foot beds to super feet since the include ones are typical unsupported foam. All in all a very good middle of the line skate for not a lot of money.

CONS:



* Skilled players who are used to top-of-the-line skates might find the Vapor 3X a bit too flexible. The flex profile is geared towards balance and maneuverability, which can sacrifice some energy transfer for powerful strides. 
* Blade holder cracked after a deflection during a game, and the material of the boot is already falling apart. Had these for about 4 months before having to buy Hyperlites because of the poor construction.
* The Vapor 3X doesn't offer any heat-molding capabilities and while the liner is comfortable…I have some wicked pressure points and am disappointed with the customization options.

The 3X was released close to the HyperLite, which was a revolutionary skate at the time, so it kinda got lost in the mix. It's still a good skate and very similar to the 3X Pro model but without as much comfort. It's a mid- to upper-level fully composite skate with a felt tongue and a hydrophobic liner with a great grip.

Similar to the 3S, the Pro version has even more bells and whistles. It features the classic pro tongue with molded inserts for a customized fit. It still has the classic Supreme composite boot and higher-level comfort foam. The higher the level of skate, the more comfort in the foam, and usually, the less time it takes to break in. You still see the 3S Pro in the NHL, and they hold up well. You can also quickly change out the blades and keep going. Players use them for years without any kind of loss in performance in terms of power.

* The fit on the Supreme 3S is a major improvement over my previous skates. The Performance Fit System with the hydrophobic microfiber liner feels super comfortable. The break-in period was reasonable, and there weren't any major pressure points.
* I had no issues with them. There was no lace bite like in my Vapors, and there was no rubbing in the toe cap. They literally feel like slippers on my feet.

CONS:



* This skate is not meant for a wide foot! After 45 minutes, I wanted to get off the ice; it took me up to 2 hours to walk normally. They put so much pressure on the outside of my feet. Super uncomfortable. 
* The Supreme 3S offers some heat-molding capabilities, but only on certain areas of the liner.
* My son is having a hard time with these skates. They are not comfortable even after 2 sessions of molding and spending an extra $40 on special inserts.

It features the Pro TPU outsole, which has additional stiffness in the lower portion of the skate, delivering more speed. It's lightweight, and the upgraded foam also adds comfort. The 3S has the stainless steal runner and the trigger release system, allowing you to quickly swap out the blade. It's a skate you could play multiple seasons with.

The Vapor 2X is just one notch down in durability and comfort from the 2X Pro. You might not notice as much comfort right off the bat, but overall, the fit and feel are pretty much the same. If you gave someone a new pair of 2X Pros and the 2Xs, blindfolded them, and asked them to figure out which was which, they would have difficulty distinguishing between the two.

These jets are among the most stylish looking skates on the market right now, and are recommended for elite level players. The black runner steel is a crowd favorite, because it holds an edge longer than standard steel tends to. You can clearly see when there are nicks in the blade, so it won’t be hard for you to figure out when they need to be replaced. These blades are also incredibly lightweight, and you’ll notice this right away when you pick them up. As you would expect with a top-of-the-line boot, they’re very stiff. AS1 skates also don’t have an outsole, so this combined with the stiffness allows for unreal foot control.

Bauer 1S Skates are the industry leaders in custom stock skates. Bauer skates feature interchangeable tongue flexes, and its innovative C-Flex tendon guard. For the 1S, the newly improved C-Flex tendon guards allow for increased flex throughout your entire stride, so you add more power for the entire time that your skates are in contact with the ice. The three different stiffness options for the tendon guard allow you to customize your skates to your exact preferences. The Trueform Tech PU boot with X-Rib pattern is heat moldable and super stiff for increased support and protection. The one-piece injected heel and ankle core offer increased stability and durability, while the interior Hydrophobic Microfiber liner wicks away moisture and keeps the foot dry. Anaform foam padding protects the ankle while a two-piece felt tongue with injected high-density foam offers protection from impacts and lace bite. Tuuk LightSpeed Edge Holders and Tuuk LightSpeed Super Stainless Steel runners are lightweight and offer a tool-less removal system for quick blade changes. 

### Expert Notes

The main thing regarding the X500 is the lack of stiffness throughout the boot relative to some of the higher end vapor models. For someone skating 1-2 times per week, they work quite well and are priced on the lower end of the spectrum, which is ideal if you’re on a budget. The low level of boot stiffness does allow for greater comfort initially, and they are super easy to break in and get used to. The entire line of Vapor skates has always been a good looking line of skates as well, as they all tend to stick to the all-black boot with red detailing.
