* Compared to some higher-end skates, these don't offer a lot of customization options. The liner isn't thermoformable, so you're stuck with a more generic fit.
* These skates are definitely on the stiffer side. While that's good for power transfer, it might be a bit too much for beginner players who are still learning proper skating techniques. 
* I noticed a couple of minor stitching issues on my skates.  Nothing major, but for the price point, I would expect slightly better quality control. Hopefully, this isn't a widespread problem.

The Tacks 9040 is a great skate for people wanting to try out the Tacks line but don't want to spend $1,000 on the top model. This skate will have all the comfort features you'd expect, like the moisture-wicking capability and high-quality foam. These skates don't have the quick-release mechanism, which is usually right under the heel. The blades are durable, but after lots of sharpening, you will need to replace the blade over time. The 9040 is a great option for kids and youth skaters who will outgrow the skate before replacing the blade. It's a good stepping stone.

* These skates are incredible! Super lightweight and feels responsive, which is exactly what I was looking for in a skate for quick cuts and accelerations. My strides feel really explosive.
* The fit on these skates is spot on. I went with the medium width and it feels like an extension of my foot. The SpeedBlade XS steel gives me some of the best edge control I've ever had.
* Big difference from my old skates. The ankle support in the JetSpeeds is top-notch. I feel really locked in and stable on my edges.

CONS:



* Less durable than expected for the price. The lining around the ankle already shows some signs of wear after just a couple of months of use. 

 



* I found the break-in period for these skates to be a bit longer than usual.  It took a good few weeks before they started to feel comfortable.
* These skates felt a bit too stiff for me, especially in the forefoot area. It restricted my toe flexion a bit and made it harder to get a good push-off. Maybe better suited for a more powerful skater than myself.

This skate is intended for people who skate about once a week and are not super competitive. It'll hold up. If you skate ten times a week with these skates, they will only last you a little while, maybe a month or two. However, the main thing is that there is no quick or easy release for the metal runners or the blades. Many players look for skates with a metal release, which will let them swap out their blades. The more you sharpen them, the thinner they get. And in this case, you'd have to replace the whole bottom, the holder. It's more intensive than just clicking a button and adding new blades. But really, a solid skate for those who don’t skate every day.

If you are familiar with Bauer’s Vapor line of skates, or if you have worn any Vapor skates before, you will be happy with the Vapor X60’s. What’s even better nowadays is the price of X60 skates; since they’re no longer a brand new model of skates, you can find exceptional deals on lightly used (and new) X60s. Many players who have worn them in the past will tell you that these wheels perform just as well as newer Vapor models such as the 1X. The liner and fit of the X60 boot is very comfortable, and will fit best with a more narrow foot and ankle structure compared to a wider foot.
