The 3X features a lightweight composite boot that provides good support and thermoforming capabilities for a custom fit. It also has a 40-ounce felt tongue for comfort and protection, and a Lightspeed Edge holder with LS+ stainless steel blades for durability and performance. The Vapor line has been a staple in Bauer's lineup for many years, known for its focus on quickness, agility, and responsiveness. ### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates offer a significant jump in performance over entry-level skates. The Flex Composite boot provides a good balance of stiffness for powerful strides and some flex for maneuverability. They're perfect for skaters who want to improve their game without breaking the bank.
* The Vapor 3X fits true to size and feels comfortable right out of the box. The 40-ounce felt tongue with comfort lining offers good support and reduces pressure points. The asymmetrical toe cap also seems to help with a snug fit around the toes.
* Skate has a good amount of higher end features and has good interior support. We upgraded the foot beds to super feet since the include ones are typical unsupported foam. All in all a very good middle of the line skate for not a lot of money.

CONS:

* Skilled players who are used to top-of-the-line skates might find the Vapor 3X a bit too flexible. The flex profile is geared towards balance and maneuverability, which can sacrifice some energy transfer for powerful strides.
* Blade holder cracked after a deflection during a game, and the material of the boot is already falling apart. Had these for about 4 months before having to buy Hyperlites because of the poor construction.
* The Vapor 3X doesn't offer any heat-molding capabilities and while the liner is comfortable…I have some wicked pressure points and am disappointed with the customization options.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The 3X was released close to the HyperLite, which was a revolutionary skate at the time, so it kinda got lost in the mix. It's still a good skate and very similar to the 3X Pro model but without as much comfort. It's a mid- to upper-level fully composite skate with a felt tongue and a hydrophobic liner with a great grip.

# Bauer Vapor Hyperlite 2 Hockey Skates

### Product Description:

The Bauer Vapor Hyperlite 2 hockey skates are designed for professional and aspiring players who prioritize agility and quickness on the ice. They are the culmination of 25 years of innovation in the Bauer Vapor line, known for its focus on lightweight performance. The skates feature a revolutionary Powerfly holder that flexes and responds to different skating movements, enhancing acceleration, and transitions. This technology is designed to give players an edge in every game situation.

### Perfect skates for:

Elite-level and aspiring pro players who skate every day

### Key features include:

* Choose between Fly-TI or Fly-X steel options for optimal performance.
* Equipped with the PowerFly Holder for secure blade attachment.
* Features the LockFit Pro Liner for a secure and comfortable fit.
* Utilizes the Aerolite 2.0 tongue for lightweight and responsive performance.
* Incorporates Hyperflex eyelets/facing for enhanced flexibility and comfort.
* Constructed with Carbon Curv Composite for lightweight durability and support.

### Top competitors comparison: the [CCM JetSpeed FT470](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft470/l59164) and the [True TF9 Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf9/pro-stock/l305705)

While all three boast lightweight, one-piece boots for responsiveness, the JetSpeed leans towards a stiffer flex for powerful strides, complementing the Vapor's pure agility focus. The True TF9 Pro takes a different approach, prioritizing a lightweight, heat-moldable shell for a custom fit and a more forgiving flex, ideal for players who value comfort and maneuverability over pure power output. Ultimately, the best choice hinges on whether you crave lightning-fast agility (Vapor Hyperlite), a balance of agility and power (JetSpeed), or a focus on lightweight comfort and personalized fit (True).

### Progression:

The popular HyperLite model debuted in 2021 and Bauer continues to build on the design and high-preforming construction of the Vaper. The Hyperlite 2 includes updated features like the PowerFly holder and Aerolite 2.0 Tongue, improved eyelets, and better materias (carbon composite) in the outsole.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS

* These skates are unbelievably light! The one-piece boot and PowerFly holder really make a difference. They feel very agile and responsive on the ice, allowing for quicker turns and faster strides. My skating has definitely improved since switching to the HyperLite 2.
* The HyperLite 2 skates are some of the most comfortable skates I've ever worn. The liner is soft and the foam padding helps eliminate pressure points. The new fit system with variable flex zones seems to conform well to my foot shape.
* Great skates, the 2's are very similar to the original HyperLite's, 2's have a better release to change the steel, and a different tongue.

CONS

* There's no getting around it, these skates are expensive. They're definitely an investment for serious players only.
* A huge issue for me is lacing up because there are NO metal eyelets for the laces. So to tighten, l have to pull on the laces sideways (if l pull straight up there's a good chance the laces will rip through the carbon fiber) making it difficult to get a good grip.
* Paying well over $1k for skates and additional steel, I feel like the skates should really last longer than two years.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

There is not as much difference between the HyperLite and the HyperLite 2 as there was between the Hyperlite and the 2x Pro, but the 2 is really just a lighter skate. More comfort features have been added also, and there is a new locking mechanism. The HyperLite 2 still offers the quick release, but it's a different upgraded style, which makes it easier to switch the steel in and out. The holder itself is different and extremely lightweight.

# Bauer Supreme M5 Pro Hockey Skates]

### Product Description:

The Bauer Supreme M5 Pro Ice Hockey Skates are designed for powerful skaters who play several times a week and look to maximize their explosiveness on the ice. They feature a 3D lasted Carbon Curv composite boot that is lightweight, supportive, and thermoformable for a custom fit. The boot is stiff in the lower portion to transfer power to your strides, while the traditional facing and tendon guard allow for maximum ankle flexion and extension. The skates also come with the "Choose Your Steel" option, allowing you to select the blade that best suits your playing style.

The Bauer Supreme line has a long history of catering to skaters who prioritize power and explosiveness. The M5 Pro continues this tradition by offering elite-level technology at a more affordable price point compared to Bauer's top-of-the-line skates.

### Perfect skates for:

elite players looking for high-end performance and comfort at a lower price than the Mach

### Key features include:

* A 3D Lasted Carbon Curv Composite quarter package
* Traditional facing which assists players in flexing over their toes
* Tendon guard enableing full extension of the stride, allowing you to reach your top speed.
* Classic Pro Felt Tongue, renowned for its comfort and performance
* Asymmetrical toe cap reduces space within the boot, enhancing responsiveness when moving your foot.

### Top competitors comparison: the [CCM Ribcor 78K](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/ribcor-78k/l62114) and the [True TF7](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf7/l164202)

The Bauer Supreme M5 Pro skates excel in power transfer and stability with their solid quarter package and Tuuk Lightspeed Edge holders. The CCM Ribcor 78K skates prioritize mobility and agility with their flexible quarter package and Ribcor Elite holder. The True TF7 skates prioritize comfort and personalization with True Hockey's custom-fit system and two-piece TrueForm composite quarter package. When choosing among these high-quality options, players should consider their playing style, foot shape, and any specific features that are important to them.

### Progression:

The Bauer Supreme M5 Pro hockey skate draws inspiration from the top-of-the-line Bauer Supreme 1X Pro. It incorporates some key design changes to fit within a more affordable price point and performance level in the Supreme line.

The M5 Pro shares the 1X Pro's core focus on power skating with a stiff flex profile for powerful skaters. The key differences and upgrades between the M5 Pro compared to 1X Pro are:

* **Boot Construction:** The M5 Pro utilizes a 3D Lasted Curv Composite Quarter Package, which is a refinement over the 1X Pro's Vaporposite+ composite. This results in a lighter weight or a slightly different flex profile for optimized energy transfer.
* **Holder**: The M5 Pro uses the TUuk Lightspeed Edge holder, offering similar security but lighter weight compared to the PowerFly holder used in the 1X Pro.
* **Liner:** The M5 Pro utilizes a moisture-wicking liner, an upgrade in comfort features compared to the 1X Pro.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are a great for maximizing power on the ice. The 3D lasted Carbon Curv Composite boot is stiff and supportive, providing great energy transfer with each stride. I noticed a significant improvement in my skating speed after switching to the M5 Pro.
* I've struggled to find a well-fitting skate and considered going the custom route….but the wider toe box in Fit 1 of these fit me like a glove. The stiffness is perfect for me (a middle-age player going 3X a week).
* The best part of this skate is the tongue, which has a blend of comfort and protection and a lot of ankle padding.

CONS:

* The stiff carbon fiber boot can take some time to break in completely. My ankles were sore during the first few weeks of use.
* These skates are designed for powerful strides and require a good amount of leg strength. Beginners might find them too stiff and demanding.
* After only 6 skates the midfoot has already compressed leaving the skate with enough room to not have a secure fit anymore.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The M5 Pro is focused on giving a lot of power. Normally, you'd hear a Supreme or Bauer Pro model going for $900+. The M5 Pro is different than that. It has all the Pro features, but for a cheaper price—more of a mid-range level price. So the M5 Pro has all the same comfort features, durability, the ability to change your steel, and the traditional supreme anatomic fit. With the new Fit System mechanisms, the M5 Pro allows you to customize whether you want it wide, narrow, etc.

### Top competitors comparison: the [CCM Super Tacks AS3 Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/super-tacks-as3/pro-stock/l251934) and the [True Pro Custom](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/pro-custom-4/l10558)

The AS3 Pro skates feature a one-piece monocoque boot construction with a tapered fit and CCM's MetaFrame Technology. The True Pro Custom skates prioritize a personalized fit, with custom-made skates based on individual foot measurements and a carbon fiber one-piece shell. Both options offer strong competition with their unique features, allowing players to choose based on their fit, performance, and customization preferences.

### Progression:

While the 2021 release marked the introduction of the Hyperlite with its core features, there's a possibility of encountering slight variations depending on the production year due to the potential for minor, unannounced refinements.

**2021 (Initial Release):** The first iteration of the Vapor Hyperlite featured several key innovations, including:

* Lightweight one-piece boot construction for improved mobility and responsiveness.
* Fit System with three width options (Fit 1, 2, and 3) for a wider range of foot shapes.
* AeroLite foam tongue for reduced weight and comfort.
* Hyperflex outsole for efficient energy transfer.
* A choice between three blade options: Carbonlite, Pulse TI, and Pulse.

**2022/2023 minor updates**: Bauer introduced minor refinements to the Hyperlite in the 2022/2023 model. These involve:

* Material tweaks for weight optimization or durability enhancement.
* Padding adjustments for improved comfort or fit.
* Minor holder or blade updates based on player feedback or technological advancements.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are incredibly light! The HyperFlex technology with the carbon composite boot makes a huge difference. They feel very responsive and agile on the ice, allowing for quicker starts, faster turns, and overall better maneuverability.
* They felt weird at first, but after two skates I’m realizing some benefits. My turns are sticking better and my stops are harder and more precise. I will never be great, but these skates are helping me be the best I can be.
* After baking and profiling, they are outstanding. I have about 10 skates on them and couldn't be happier. Out of the box comfort is great and forward flex is much better than my old skates.

CONS:

* I’m questioning it’s durability especially for the $1,000+ price tag. The tongue looks good but the red fabric has already torn in only a month. I just replaced his laces as they were cut in several places which appear to be a result of the plastic lace eyelets.
* The Vapor Hyperlite leans towards a stiffer flex profile for maximum energy transfer. While great for powerful skaters, this stiffness is too much for a beginner like me.
* After 6 months of use, i’m forced to buy another set because the plastic lace system at the top of the skate was broken and rendered the skate useless.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

I've had multiple pairs of the HyperLites, both retail and custom-made. It's like the HyperLite took the best elements from all the top Vapor skates and made them even lighter and more comfortable. The Hyperlite is the lightest skate I've ever used. It's almost so light that you need to get adjusted to putting pressure differently using your blades because heavier skates do give you a little extra weight.

They have a comfort liner within the skate and right along the ankle, which keeps your ankles from wearing down. It's very durable, too. I've used a pair for about three years, skating a lot, and they've held up perfectly. Also, it's a great travel skate. Everything is weight-based if you're flying somewhere, so the HyperLite is an excellent option.

These skates offer a tailored fit for improved performance. Players can choose between the Jetspeed FT1 and the TF9 based on their speed, fit, and overall performance preferences.

### Progression:

**Key improvements of the [2X Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/vapor-2x-pro-3/age-senior/l233493) over the [1X Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/vapor-1x-2/pro-stock/l181835):**

* **Fit**: DYNAFLEX system provides a more customized fit compared to the three-width system.
* **Weight**: The 2X Pro is lighter due to advancements in materials and construction.
* **Performance**: The 2X Pro offers better energy transfer, edge control, and overall responsiveness.

**Key improvements of the [3X Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/vapor-3x-pro/l165935) over the [2X Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/vapor-2x-pro-3/age-senior/l233493):**

* **Boot**: The new Curv composite material offers slight weight reduction and potential performance enhancements.
* **Blade**: The LS6 blade is a new option with a focus on durability and edge control.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are a step up from recreational skates but without the hefty price tag of top-of-the-line models. The Curv Composite quarter provides a good balance of stiffness and flex for powerful strides with some maneuverability.
* After getting them baked they are unreal. Feels like a pair of sneakers. The LS Pulse blades took some time getting used to for a beginner like me but after a few sessions they’re solid and they make skating somewhat easier.
* These skates are awesome and super stable. For me there was a slight learning curve (probably more so because I have been skating in the wrong size for a good portion of my life) but these skates are game changers. The glide, the comfort, the stability, everything.

CONS:

* While the stiffness is good for intermediate players, some advanced skaters might find the Vapor 3X a bit too flexible for their needs. If you're a powerful skater who demands maximum energy transfer, you might want to consider a stiffer boot from the Bauer Vapor Hyperlite or Supreme lines.
* I like my skates tied tight. And due to this, the top eyelets of these skates did not last much beyond the warranty period.
* The hard plastic eyelet material is impossible to get tight around upper foot and ankles. The boot is very low volume and shallow so I had to swap out for Supremes. Toe box is great though.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The 3x Pro is made of light materials and is super durable. It's a pro model, so it has top-level comfort with high-quality foam and an asymmetrical toe cap. The lower part of the skate is softer, while the upper part is stiffer, allowing for more support. The 2X Pro was such a hit, and it's kind of hard to follow up... but they made a decent skate with the 3X Pro.

### Top competitors comparison: the [CCM Ribcor 80K](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/ribcor-80k/l12074) and the [True Pro Custom](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/pro-custom-4/l10558)

The CCM Ribcor 80K skates offer a similar level of performance and customization. They feature a lightweight, carbon composite boot for maximum responsiveness and a customizable fit with heat moldable technology. The Ribcor 80K skates also utilize the SpeedBlade XS holder system for quick blade changes. On the other hand, the True Pro Custom Hockey Skates are known for their customizability, as the name suggests. They offer a fully customizable fit and are handcrafted to the player's exact specifications. The True Pro Custom skates also feature a lightweight construction and premium materials for optimal performance.

### Progression:

Key improvements in the 2X Pro over the 1X Pro:

* **Weight:** The 2X Pro is lighter than the 1X Pro due to advancements in materials and construction.
* **Performance:** The 2X Pro features improvements in energy transfer, edge control, and overall responsiveness compared to the 1X Pro.

It's important to note that while the 2X Pro is generally considered an upgrade over the 1X Pro, the specific choice between the two models will depend on individual player preferences, budget, and skating style.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are awesome. The DynaFlex system with the asymmetrical toe cap provides a super close, locked-in fit. The boot is stiff and responsive, perfect for powerful skating.
* The Lock Fit Pro liner is the most comfortable liner I've ever experienced in a skate. It feels like a custom mold of my foot, and there were no major break-in issues.
* The holder provides a solid platform for the blade, and the steel offers some of the best edge control I've ever had. Turns feel effortless.

CONS:

* These skates are definitely on the expensive side.
* With their high-performance focus, these skates are very stiff. While that's great for powerful strides, it might be too much for beginner players. A stiffer boot can be harder to control and maneuver.
* I had a hard time finding these skates in my size.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

One of the things that makes the 2X Pro great is how light it feels. It's an extremely lightweight boot that is also really durable. It's a predecessor to what you see in the HyperLite these days. Very durable but also very light. So the 2X Pro is perfect for agility, cutting back and forth across the ice. And, it still has good power. At the professional level, some NHL players use the 2X Pro and have no issues. It’s a skate that will last you. Mine are still fine to play in even after years. It's a skate built to last.

The skates also have a 13-foot radius blade that is designed for good edge control and maneuverability. Overall, the Bauer Supreme 3S Pro skates are a good option for hockey players who are looking for a comfortable and high-performance skate.

The Bauer Supreme line has been a popular choice for hockey players for many years, and the 3S Pro skates are the latest addition to the line. The skates are designed to be more comfortable and forgiving than previous models in the line, while still offering good performance.

### Perfect skates for:

A skilled player who wants added comfort.

### Key features include:

* The Flex Tendon Guard enables an expanded range of motion with each stride
* A symmetrical taper provides support for straight-line speed
* Power Cut enhances foot stability with increased wrap
* Improved forward flex range of motion, facilitating smoother strides.
* The integrated outsole delivers heightened energy transfer for greater push-off power.
* Increased ice contact and seamless transitions from back to front, with a balance point towards the back for a more neutral take-off feel.

### Top competitors comparison: The [CCM Jetspeed FT2](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft2-2/l11100) and the [True TF9](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf9/l163956)

The Bauer Supreme 3S Pro emphasizes power and stability with its anatomical fit and a versatile Tuuk LS Pulse TI blade, providing excellent energy transfer. On the other hand, the CCM Jetspeed FT2 focuses on agility and acceleration, boasting the RocketFrame Composite quarter package and SpeedBlade XS holder for quick turns and explosive strides. Meanwhile, the True TF9 combines lightweight construction with a thermoformable boot, ensuring a personalized fit and heightened responsiveness.

### Progression:

The Bauer Supreme 2S Pro was a top-of-the-line skate in the Supreme line before the 3S Pro. Key improvements in the 3S Pro over the 2S Pro are:

* **Fit:** The Performance Fit System allows for a more personalized fit compared to the three-width option system in the 2S Pro.
* **Performance:** The 3S Pro features advancements in energy transfer, edge control, and overall responsiveness.
* **Weight:** The 3S Pro is slightly lighter due to material and construction refinements.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* Thanks to the Tuuk LS Pulse TI blade and the skate's rigid construction, I have exceptional power transfer. I can go really fast, and my strides feel really powerful.
* Super comfortable. The thermoformable Curv Composite boot is awesome. The skate molded to my foot over time, providing a snug fit with no pressure points.
* Best skates I have ever used. The fit is perfect no lace bite at all.

CONS:

* These skates are not wide enough. I thought the tight pressure in my toe would go away, but it's actually worse. I should have gone with custom skates.
* They feel heavy… almost clunky when I’m on the ice.
* These skates are narrower than I like, and I will likely have to have them punched out. I am unimpressed with the profiled blade; I like the black series blades better.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

Similar to the 3S, the Pro version has even more bells and whistles. It features the classic pro tongue with molded inserts for a customized fit. It still has the classic Supreme composite boot and higher-level comfort foam. The higher the level of skate, the more comfort in the foam, and usually, the less time it takes to break in. You still see the 3S Pro in the NHL, and they hold up well. You can also quickly change out the blades and keep going. Players use them for years without any kind of loss in performance in terms of power.

Within the Bauer lineup, the Supreme 3S falls into the "performance" category, which sits between the top-of-the-line "Vapor" skates designed for elite players and the "Nexus" skates geared towards recreational players. This positioning reflects the 3S's blend of features that cater to both performance and comfort.

### Key features include:

* Superior support with the 3D lasted flex composite quarter package.

### Top competitors comparison: the [CCM Tacks 9090](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/tacks-9090-2/l10103) and the [True TF9](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf9/l163956)

The CCM Tacks 9090 skates offer an anatomical fit with a one-piece boot construction that enhances stability and responsiveness. They also provide custom memory foam ankle padding for added comfort and a lightweight composite outsole for optimal energy transfer. On the other hand, the True TF9 skates prioritize a customizable fit, as they are handcrafted to each player's unique foot measurements for a personalized experience. With a carbon fiber one-piece construction, the TF9 skates offer lightweight durability and excellent power transfer. Both alternatives provide players with high-quality options comparable to the Bauer Supreme 3S, allowing them to choose based on individual preferences and requirements.

### Progression:

The Bauer Supreme 3S hockey skate, released in 2020, currently doesn't have a direct predecessor within the Supreme line with a distinct model name like "1S" or "2S." Bauer sometimes introduces minor improvements to existing skate lines throughout their production cycle without necessarily introducing a new numbered model.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* The 3D-lasted flex composite boot provides a good amount of stiffness while still maintaining some flexibility for maneuverability. The skate feels very responsive.
* The fit on the Supreme 3S is a major improvement over my previous skates. The Performance Fit System with the hydrophobic microfiber liner feels super comfortable. The break-in period was reasonable, and there weren't any major pressure points.
* I had no issues with them. There was no lace bite like in my Vapors, and there was no rubbing in the toe cap. They literally feel like slippers on my feet.

CONS:

* This skate is not meant for a wide foot! After 45 minutes, I wanted to get off the ice; it took me up to 2 hours to walk normally. They put so much pressure on the outside of my feet. Super uncomfortable.
* The Supreme 3S offers some heat-molding capabilities, but only on certain areas of the liner.
* My son is having a hard time with these skates. They are not comfortable even after 2 sessions of molding and spending an extra $40 on special inserts.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The 3S will give you a lot of power, more power than you would get with some of the older models. It features the Pro TPU outsole, which has additional stiffness in the lower portion of the skate, delivering more speed. It's lightweight, and the upgraded foam also adds comfort. The 3S has the stainless steal runner and the trigger release system, allowing you to quickly swap out the blade. It's a skate you could play multiple seasons with.

Supreme M3

# Bauer Supreme M3 Hockey Skates

### Product Description:

The Bauer Supreme M3 hockey skates are designed for recreational and competitive players. They feature a Digi Comp quarter for a lightweight and supportive fit, a memory foam ankle pad for comfort, and a traditional flex profile for a good range of motion. The liner is made of a moisture-wicking material to help keep feet dry, and the LS Edge holder makes it easy to swap out blades. The Bauer Supreme M3 skates are a good mid-range option for players who are looking for a skate that offers good value for the money.

The Bauer Supreme line has been around for many years, and the M3 is a continuation of the brand's commitment to providing high-quality skates for players of all levels. The Supreme line is known for its focus on comfort and performance, and the M3 skates live up to that reputation.

### Perfect skates for:

The weekly player who prioritzes comfort at an excellent value.

### Key features include:

* Digi Comp quarter enhances comfort and reduces weight
* Traditional facing assists players in flexing over their toes while providing wrap on top of the foot for sustained comfort.
* 40oz Felt Tongue provides players with increased comfort and ease of flex.
* LS Edge holder offers reliability and enables quick changes of steel when needed.
* Symmetrical toe cap enhances comfort by providing slightly more room at the front of the boot.

### Top competitors comparison: the [CCM Jetspeed FT470](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft470/l59164) and the [True TF7](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf7/l164202)

All three skates target developing players seeking a balance of affordability, comfort, and performance. The CCM JetSpeed FT470 leans towards a stiffer flex profile for more powerful strides, while the True TF7 emphasizes a slightly lighter weight construction and a focus on heat-moldability for a more customized fit. Ultimately, the best choice depends on whether the player prioritizes power (CCM) or a comfortable, personalized fit (True).

### Progression:

Bauer prioritizes introducing major advancements in their top-of-the-line models (like the Vapor 3X Pro or Supreme 3X Pro) and does not explicitly advertise minor refinements made to mid-range skates like the M3.

Upgrades to the M3 line include subtle tweaks to materials, padding, and specific components including the upgraded 40oz felt tongue with a mesh metatarsal guard for protection and comfort. Bauer also included a sublimated hydrophobic microfiber liner with memory foam padding and the quick release trigger allowing players to remove damaged or broken steel in seconds.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are good for recreational players who are looking for a good balance of performance and comfort without going overboard on the price. They're much lighter than expected for the price point, making for easier strides.
* The M3 skates come with a slightly heat-moldable liner that allows for a more customized fit around the ankle. This helped eliminate some pressure points I had with my old skates. They also provide decent arch support.
* These skates didn't require a long break-in period like some higher-end models. The memory foam ankle padding feels great and there were no real comfort issues out of the box.

CONS:

* The M3 skates don't offer the same level of stiffness as some top-of-the-line models. This might be a drawback for players who are looking for maximum power transfer in their strides.
* The fit of these skates leans a bit on the narrow side. If you have wider feet, you might want to consider tanother model with a wider width option.
* Only complaint is the steel sucks. I bought some pulse runners and they are great, but if I would have known that I had to throw another $110 for decent steel, I would have just bought the m4s.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The M3 is a low to mid-level skate. It's a bit more expensive than the introductory ones, but it has the quick-release steel changer. So players can use the M3 for a lot longer than if there was no way to change the blades efficiently. It has a lot of comfort features like a thick padded tongue. It's so focused on comfort and this keeps players happier. Because when you're starting out, comfort is a bit more important. The reason I've seen people STOP using this skate is just because of the durability aspect. As people become more comfortable with their game or their skating, and they start doing different cuts and using their skates differently, the wear will happen in different areas and degrade this skate faster than higher-end models.

### Progression:

The [Bauer Supreme 2S Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/supreme-2s-pro/l7798) hockey skate was released in 2018 as the successor to the Bauer Supreme 1S skate. While the overall design remained similar, the 2S Pro introduced several improvements:

* Lock-Fit Pro liner
* Custom lacing system
* Lighter memory foam ankle pads
* Upgraded to the Tuuk LS5 carbon-coated stainless steel runner

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are amazing! The boot is super stiff and supportive, which gives me a ton of power in my strides. My skating feels much faster and more efficient.
* The Lock Fit Pro liner is incredibly comfortable and provides a great heel lock. The thermoformable features allow for a truly custom fit, which makes a huge difference for my skating. No more worrying about blisters or pressure points.
* The LS5 steel blades are a game-changer. They offer some of the best edge control I've ever experienced. Turns feel effortless and I can really dig into the ice for powerful pushes.

CONS:

* The break-in period for these skates was brutal. It took a good few weeks before they started to feel comfortable. Be prepared to put in some extra ice time if you get these.
* These skates are definitely on the expensive side. While they perform great, the price might not be realistic for everyone.
* I had a hard time finding these skates in my size. It seems like they sell out quickly and aren't always readily available.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The 2S Pro is a higher-end skate built for professional or competitive play. It has a lot of extra comfort and will be lighter with all the space-age technology materials. The 2S Pro has excellent power and control, so you can repeatedly explode your speed. This skate does have a quick-release mechanism to switch out your blades easily. The Supreme line has a more anatomical kind of snug fit. If you want a skate with all the bells and whistles, the 2S Pro is for you.

* Significant weight reduction of approximately 6.5% lighter
* Asymmetrical toe cap for better overall fit
* 40oz Felt tongue with comfort lining
* Hydrophobic liner with great grip to secure foot in place
* Full composite boot

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* Two thumbs up for 2X’s. 5 years on my last set of skates and it was time for an upgrade, and the 2X’s do not disappoint. Very light, comfortable, and fast.
* The fit on these skates is excellent. The new anatomical design with a wider toe box feels more comfortable than previous Vapor models, especially for players with wider feet.
* The boot on these skates feels lighter than expected. The responsiveness of the boot is also great, allowing for good energy transfer in my strides.

CONS:

* While the stiffness is good for intermediate players, some advanced skaters might find the Vapor 2X a bit too flexible.
* I question the longevity of the liner. While they seem fine for now, I worry about how they'll hold up with long-term use.
* The Vapor 2X offers some limited heat-molding capabilities, but not to the same extent as some higher-end Bauer skates.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The Vapor 2X is just one notch down in durability and comfort from the 2X Pro. You might not notice as much comfort right off the bat, but overall, the fit and feel are pretty much the same. The 2X will still have the asymmetrical toe cap, ankle padding, and three-piece felt tongue. If you gave someone a new pair of 2X Pros and the 2Xs, blindfolded them, and asked them to figure out which was which, they would have difficulty distinguishing between the two.

Vapor X2.7

# Bauer Vapor X2.7 Hockey Skates

### Product Description:

The Bauer Vapor X2.7 is a hockey skate designed for competitive players who prioritize comfort and performance. It features a one-piece 3D Polycarb quarter for a snug fit and flexibility, while the Comfort Flex system enhances the overall feel. Memory foam ankle padding and a microfiber liner provide additional comfort, and the Tuuk Lightspeed Edge holder allows for easy blade swapping. It falls within the Bauer Vapor line, known for its low-volume fit and responsiveness, targeting players who value agility and a quick release on their strides. While not the top-of-the-line model, the X2.7 offers a good balance of features and affordability for competitive play.

### Perfect skates for:

competitive players

### Key features include:

- Enhanced fit with the low-profile design.

- Improved feel with the COMFORTFLEX System.

- More flexibility with the one-piece 3D Polycarb quarter.

- Memory foam padding provides added support.

- Comfort with the microfiber liner.

- Tuuk Lightspeed EDGE holder for improved striding

### Top competitors comparison: the [CCM JetSpeed FT470](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft470/l59164) and the [Bauer Supreme S27](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/supreme-s27-2/l10374)

The CCM JetSpeed FT470 offers a similar level of comfort and performance to the Bauer Vapor X2.7, making it a great choice for recreational skaters. However, some users report that the Bauer might have a slightly stiffer flex for better power transfer in your stride. The Bauer Supreme S27 is designed for a different playing style. The Supreme S27 prioritizes power over agility, with a stiffer boot that maximizes energy transfer for powerful strides. This can make it slightly less forgiving than the Vapor X2.7, especially for quick turns.

### Progression:

The Vapor skate line is typically updated every other year. Not every new skate model will feature drastic changes. Bauer often balances introducing new features with refining existing ones, ensuring their skates remain competitive and cater to the evolving needs of players.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are perfect for recreational players or those just starting out in hockey. The comfort level is good, and they provide enough support for basic skating and learning proper technique.
* The microfiber liner is surprisingly comfortable, and the memory foam ankle padding provides good support. The option to heat-mold the skates is a nice bonus, especially for players with wider feet.
* I've used Bauer Vapors in the past, and this X2.7 model feels great. Love the memory foam padding for extra comfort when I’ve been skating all day.

CONS:

* To me, these skates feel like they are on the softer side. While that might be good for beginners, it's not ideal for powerful skaters who need a stiffer boot for maximum energy transfer.
* The liner doesnt seem partifiualy durable. I'm a little worried about how they'll hold up with long-term use, especially because I’m a frequent skater.
* The break-in period for these skates wasn't the shortest. It took a few sessions for them to feel truly comfortable. If you're impatient, this might be a bit of a drawback.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

I've had these many times; it's a mid-tier, performance-level skate where you can undoubtedly play a few seasons (probably not in the NHL), but in University, high-level competitive play. The X2.7 has a quick-release holder, and the Vapor fit will be a bit lower, snug, and flexible. The top-level pro-Vapors might last you three years, whereas these might last one and a half two years, but it's the same kind of comfort. It just comes down to your abilities.

Vapor X500

### Product Description

Bauer X500 skates are in the middle of the pack of the Vapor line. Vapor skates offer unique builds for players who are looking for speed and balance at a competitive price. The Trueform Tech PU boot with X-Rib pattern is heat moldable and super stiff for increased support and protection. The one-piece injected heel and ankle core offer increased stability and durability, while the interior Hydrophobic Microfiber liner wicks away moisture and keeps the foot dry. Anaform foam padding protects the ankle while a two-piece felt tongue with injected high-density foam offers protection from impacts and lace bite. Tuuk LightSpeed Edge Holders and Tuuk LightSpeed Super Stainless Steel runners are lightweight and offer a tool-less removal system for quick blade changes.

### Expert Notes

The main thing regarding the X500 is the lack of stiffness throughout the boot relative to some of the higher end vapor models. For someone skating 1-2 times per week, they work quite well and are priced on the lower end of the spectrum, which is ideal if you’re on a budget. The low level of boot stiffness does allow for greater comfort initially, and they are super easy to break in and get used to. The entire line of Vapor skates has always been a good looking line of skates as well, as they all tend to stick to the all-black boot with red detailing.

Supreme 140

## Bauer Supreme 140 Hockey Skates

### Product Description:

The Bauer Supreme 140 hockey skates offer an excellent entry point into the iconic Supreme line, known for its anatomical fit and close-to-the-foot feel. These skates are ideal for recreational players or those just starting in the sport, providing a comfortable fit with a premium nylon construction and a microfiber liner. The injected TPR outsole and TUUK Lightspeed Pro holder with stainless steel runners offer durability and reliable performance. Building upon Bauer's legacy of innovation, the Supreme 140 delivers quality and value to help new players discover the joy of hockey.

### Perfect skates for:

young or new hockey enthusiasts and recreational skaters

### Key features include:

* Constructed with premium nylon material for exceptional quality.
* A microfiber liner for a luxurious feel.
* A patented integrated anatomical heel design for improved ankle support.
* Anatomical felt tongue to maximize comfort.
* Footbed designed with shaped EVA for enhanced support and comfort.

### Top competitors comparison: the [CCM Jetspeed FT460](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft460-2/l61921) and the [True TF7](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf7/l164202)

The CCM Jetspeed FT460 offers a similar level of performance and features as the Bauer Supreme 140 skates. Both skates have a focus on speed and agility, with lightweight materials and a responsive feel. The Jetspeed FT460 skates have a slightly higher overall boot height, providing added support and stability, while the Bauer Supreme 140 skates have a lower-profile design. On the other hand, the True TF7 Hockey Skates bring a different approach with a customizable and anatomical fit. The True skates utilize a heat-moldable technology to provide a personalized fit that caters to the unique shape of the player's foot.

### Progression:

While there is not a specific progression for the 140, it sits at the starting point within the Bauer Supreme range of skates designed for comfort and a good fit for beginner players. The Supreme line is known for its focus on comfort and a good fit. Bauer offers various models within the Supreme line catering to different skill levels.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS:**

* Just started playing hockey and these skates are perfect for me. They're comfortable, supportive, and affordable. I haven't had any problems learning to skate in them, and they seem pretty durable so far.
* I have wider feet and these skates fit great. The ankle support feels good and they don't pinch anywhere. The break-in period wasn't too bad either..
* Sure, these aren't top-of-the-line skates, but for a recreational player like me, they work just fine. They offer decent ankle support and a good blade for basic skating and maneuvering.

**CONS:**

* These skates felt a bit too soft for me. I couldn't get a very powerful push-off and I felt like I was losing some energy transfer. If you're a more powerful skater, you might want to look for a stiffer boot.
* Once I started working on more advanced skating drills, I felt like these skates didn't offer enough ankle support. For basic skating, they're fine.
* The quality of the materials seems a bit on the cheaper side. I'm worried about how long these skates will last, especially with regular use.

### Expert notes ([Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

There is no quick-release mechanism for the metal runners or blades, which makes the 140 a good skate for beginners or skaters who skate less often and don't want to pay too much but still want a quality skate. The 140 will last only a few years, but it’s an excellent introductory skate in the Supreme line, allowing you to get a feel for it. Do you like the Supreme? Do you like a bit of extra power or do you want to try something different?

Vapor X Velocity

Vapor X60

### Product Description

Built for quickness and speed the Vapor X60s are constructed with Ultra-Light tech mesh in a thermoformed Carbon Composite X-rib pattern, while new lightweight Dual Density+ foam provides heat-moldable support and comfort. The Hydra Max liner is moisture-wicking and abrasion-resistant to keep feet cool and dry without slippage or wear and tear near the ankle. The lightweight Bauer Tuuk holds the LS2 Stainless Steel blade and allows for maximum transfer of energy for powerful, quick strides. The flexible Form Fit 2 molded tongue helps to protect against lace-bite and includes a high-density metatarsal guard for added protection.

### Expert Notes

If you are familiar with Bauer’s Vapor line of skates, or if you have worn any Vapor skates before, you will be happy with the Vapor X60’s. What’s even better nowadays is the price of X60 skates; since they’re no longer a brand new model of skates, you can find exceptional deals on lightly used (and new) X60s. Many players who have worn them in the past will tell you that these wheels perform just as well as newer Vapor models such as the 1X. The liner and fit of the X60 boot is very comfortable, and will fit best with a more narrow foot and ankle structure compared to a wider foot.
