Do You Need Elbow Pads For Hockey?

Elbow pads are a critical component of any hockey equipment set. Elbow pads help protect your elbows from the impacts of hitting the ice, boards, or other players' sticks. The width of the pad is also important because it will help distribute impact over a larger area and avoid pressure points on your arms.

Size Guide: Hockey Elbow Pads

Hockey elbow pads should fit closely around the entire arm with no gaps. The elbow cup should be centered over your elbow joint and cover your biceps muscle completely. Measure from the top of the glove to the start of the shoulder pad. Match with the chart below.

Pad Size Arm Measurement
Youth 7"-9"
Junior - Small 9"-11"
Junior - Medium 10"-11"
Junior - Large  10"-12"
Senior - Small 12"-13"
Senior - Medium  13"-14"
Senior - Large 14"-15"
Senior - Extra Large 15"+
