Quick guide to elbow pad sizing
When it comes to the most popular brands of hockey elbow pads, names like Bauer, CCM, Reebok and Easton all top the list. It’s common for higher level hockey players to go for elbow pads that have compression sleeves built-in for heightened stability and comfort. If you're a youth player, we'd recommend going with lower-end elbow pads; they usually don’t have this compression feature, but since they’re more affordable, they’re a great option for the young player who is still growing.
It's important you don't have elbow pads that are too big for you. If your pads fit too loosely, they won't be providing you with the proper level of protection that you need. Your two most important measurements to consider when selecting any pair of elbow pads are your height, and the length of your arm from mid-bicep to mid-forearm. Arm measurements for youth elbow pads will generally range from 7-9 inches.
