Reebok Hockey Cages, Visors & Shields Frequently Asked Questions
What happened to Reebok hockey equipment?
Reebok has an interesting history. It was acquired by parent company Adidas back in 2005, but its origins go back much farther. A man named Joseph William Foster started his own shoe company in 1900, calling it J.W. Foster and Sons. The company specialized in running shoes, specifically designing some of the first-ever spiked shoes. Foster’s shoes grew in popularity over the next fifty years, and eventually two of his grandsons branched off from the family business to form a companion company -- which they called “Reebok.” Fun fact on the name: Reebok comes from the the Afrikaans word for the grey rhebok, a type of African Antelope.
Reebok and CCM: are they the same company?
Now, getting back to present day. Reebok is obviously still very well known for its sneakers, cleats, and other performance footwear, but they also have a presence in the hockey world. Starting in 2015, all hockey gear branded under the Reebok name started to be integrated into CCM's product lines. Today, Reebok’s hockey line has been phased out to complete the merge with CCM. So the easy answer is, if you're looking for Reebok cages, visors or shields, a good place to start would be our CCM section. However! There are still plenty of Reebok hockey products that come through SidelineSwap, including the Reebok 5K cage, and newer iterations such as the 7K cage.
