- I did a lot of research. I'm a mid-handicap player at 69 years old. I played my first round after a month off and was extremely surprised by the feel, sound, control, and distance.

- The first thing I noticed was the exceptional feel of the club through the swing. With Callaway's new design, I feel more connected to the driver's head from start to finish.

- There's a solid sound and "pop" as it comes off the club face; it's not metallic or flat. They nailed the sound on this driver.

- The body is too weak for high swing speed. I have to swing with less strength than usual. I don't think the carbon body was a good choice. 

- The price is too high for a club that cannot withstand strong hits. My club's carbon body shattered at impact. 

- I was disappointed the club didn't come with an adjustment tool for the head.

Callaway’s XR 16 is an excellent driver for all players, but middle and higher handicaps will likely experience the greatest gains in performance.

If you were a fan of the original XR Driver, you’ll really like the XR 16. The Speed Step is closer to the crown on this version, which makes this club extra forgiving. You will notice the head shape is longer than the XR as well. Callaway also made the R-MOTO ribs longer to enable the face to flex more, resulting in increased ball speed. You will enjoy hitting this club, as it is one of the best drivers Callaway has made to date.
