-   The Rawlings Icon is a beast on the field. Hits are powerful and consistent.
    
-   The sweet spot on this thing is like a magnet for the ball. It's tough as nails and can take a beating, which is exactly what you need in the game.

**CONS**

-   The stock grip is just kinda okay – not as sticky or comfy as I expected. It's no deal-breaker, though. Folks generally like to tweak their grips to suit their style.
    
-   I'm not a big fan of the tapered knob on the ICON because I like to feel the handle more at the bottom (purely preference), but the handle feels fantastic.
    
-   The barrel cracked at the base of the handle. Travel ball practice starts this week and his brand new Icon is useless.

The ICON is the new hot bat from Rawlings. It's the top bat in the market right now. In terms of sales, very popular. You've got a lot of guys online doing reviews on it. I think the hype comes from the merger between Easton and Rawlings. They've got a lot of technology and have come up with a really strong-performing bat this season.

2018 by adding even more width to an already expansive barrel—although I’ve heard
young hitters still love the 2019 Threat, as well (if only because of its neon green

The 2022 Prodigy bat is a favorite within USA baseball leagues because of its extremely lightweight feel and red/orange color combination. Besides looks, I’ve noticed that not much has changed between the earliest Prodigy bat and the most recent release—but that’s because youth hitters clearly have no complaints about this model. The Rawlings 5150 series is the ultimate workman’s bat. The most recent 2023 Rawlings 5150 furthered the end loaded, heavier feel and extra stiffness that we loved its predecessors for, while adding a brand new bat grip that hitters I’ve spoken to say provides unmatched comfort at the plate. Although some of these hitters also miss the neon green 5150 releases from 2016 and 2017, the model’s evolution can be clearly traced through this bat’s commitment to one piece, alloy bats that care about performance over cosmetics. * I initially bought the end-loaded Pro Max bat, but it failed the NCAA bat testing. So, I tried the Quatro Pro bat and was surprised by its pop, even though it sometimes feels too light. 
* If you are searching for a composite bat that offers balance, then this bat is a fantastic choice.
* The Quatro Pro has a lot of pop and zero vibration. It has a good sweat spot and is all-around a good bat.

**CONS**



* My son enjoyed using the Rawlings bat and liked the popping sound. However, the knob broke off after only six months of use. We contacted Rawlings and they sent us a new bat as a replacement. Unfortunately, the knob on the new bat broke off again after just three months of use.

* Rawlings 2-piece bats are inferior quality they break easy and can’t withstand use over time.

The Quatro Pro launched in 2019. Even today, it's one of the hottest bats out there. If you can find one, the Quatro Pro is a great performer; it is lightweight, easy to swing, and has a ton of pop. Probably one of the top five BBCOR bats of all time. 

The first two years had breakage issues. Since then, Rawlings has made some adjustments to the barrel, thickened the sidewalls and made the bat more durable, but in doing so, they lessened the performance. The later models are not as popular as the early ones.

Well, may we suggest the Rawlings Quatro? Quatro bats are known for their killer performance for hitters at all levels of the game.

Rawlings’ patented hinge system provides a focused flex, which helps hitters generate incredible pop. A lightweight endcap reduces swing weight and helps generate great swing speed, while vibration dampening technology reduces hand sting to prevent any pain when you make contact with a pitch. For elite level hitters, be sure to check out the Quatro College/High School Bat (-3), or the 2018 Quatro USA Baseball Bat (-10).


### Expert Notes

The Rawlings Quatro features a decent sized barrel and has little to no feedback on the hands during mishits. It’s one of the best BBCOR bat options out there, in our opinion. The exit speed is phenomenal, and the only drawback we’ve noticed is that it’s not very durable. 

The only major difference between the 2018 Quatro and the 2017 version is the swing weight. Although the swing weight change is not very dramatic (aka they did not go all the way from an end load to a balanced) it is enough to make a noticeable difference. The swing weight change was created by the redevelopment of the end cap and the extended inner sleeve. More bulk was removed from those elements, which caused the swing weight to drop significantly. The principle is simple enough: the more weight that is taken from the end of a bat, the less strength is required to spin it around by the knob. This insight relies on the basic principles of Mass Moment of Inertia (or MOI).
