The big selling point is that it's 20 grams lighter than the previous model and has an upgraded rail system. The material makes it a stiffer head, and it helps the head retain its shape in high-heat environments. It has an updated scoop to make ground balls that much easier.

Pros: 



* The Ion feels light and well-balanced. It allows for fast shots and accurate passing and catching. Cradling is comfortable.
* Surprisingly great. The clear plastic really looks awesome. Doesn’t feel brittle like the older clear plastic heads including the DNA diamond.
* This head has all the best qualities of the Maverik Optik 3.0 with an even tighter release. 

Cons: 



* I like this head - it's light and performs great. But, it's too fragile. I've had two breaks in 8 months at the throat. If it were more durable, it'd be the best ever.
* Used this new lacrosse head in college practice and after 7-8 months it cracked near the throat. Love the color and design but not perfect yet.
* It's been working okay for me. Was not easy at first to string the right pocket.
