Callaway has redefined distance irons by utilizing technology from fairway woods to create the XR iron sets. The 360 Cup Face technology maximizes ball speeds through added flex upon impact. The Internal Standing Wave moves the center of gravity (CG) lower and forward to increase the moment of inertia (MOI) for increased forgiveness. With a lower CG and higher MOI, the face cup is able to generate more ball speed for higher distance. XR irons are an excellent option for all levels of golfers seeking an easier launch off the tee, greater forgiveness, and added distance behind their shot.

### Expert Notes

Callaway XR irons have a “cup 360” around the head, which is a thin metal that produces flex upon impact. The more flex a club has, the more ball speed you’ll get. Callaway also used the internal standing wave design from their fairway woods in these irons, which effectively lowers the CG. You will experience a medium amount of offset upon address, and the top line looks very similar to the X2 Hot irons. Lastly, it should be noted that these are cavity back irons; if that’s your preference, the Callaway XR’s are a great option.
