Titleist AP2 714 Forged Irons offer incredible forgiveness in a Tour-preferred compact player’s iron. These irons feature an advanced dual cavity design with a Tour-proven profile of progressive weighting, variable face thickness, and sole widths. The innovative tungsten weighting helps to optimize center of gravity (CG) so the long irons have a lower CG for an easier launch and the short irons have a higher CG for a more workable trajectory that most players prefer. Each iron is specifically designed to match the loft characteristics, so the long irons have thinner faces than the short irons, allowing more flexion at impact. The AP2 714 Irons feature a pre-worn leading edge and extra camber in the sole to improve turf interaction. Constructed from 1025 forged carbon steel, the AP2 offers a soft feel and pure sound.

 Titleist 716 AP1 Irons are game-improvement irons with a high launch trajectory, increased distance, maximum forgiveness, and playability. Tungsten weighting helps lower the center of gravity (CG) which produces a higher launch and increased moment of inertia (MOI) for added forgiveness. The 360 degree Undercut Cavity design is a thin, unsupported face that allows the face to flex more at impact resulting in increased ball speeds and added distance. Titleist 716 AP1 irons feature a pre-worn leading-edge design that creates better turf interaction. The Titleist 716 AP1 irons come standard with the MRC Kura Kage Graphite or True Temper 95 Steel stock shafts.

### Expert Notes

These best-selling, most forgiving irons were designed to give players greater distance on their shots. Titleist AP1 irons are best suited for mid to high handicappers. There’s very solid forgiveness in these irons. They have a substantial offset, thick sole, and thick top line. The use of stainless steel inserts create faster ball speeds from all impact locations. The shorter and mid irons feature a cavity construction, and the longer irons have a hollow body construction. You will like the thin clubface with tungsten positioned in the toe in the longer clubs for higher launch flights. Ball speeds will be pretty high with these irons. They have excellent feel and workability.  You will find the sound to be a bit “clicky.” Overall, the heads on AP1 irons are slightly larger than AP2 heads, and the top edge is slightly broader.
