Top Competitors

The Callaway Rogue ST MAX Irons offer similar forgiveness and distance benefits to the M2 irons. Key features include a hollow body construction for increased ball speed and Jailbreak Technology for more power on off-center hits. The Ping G425 Irons also provide a good blend of distance, forgiveness, and feel. They achieve this through a hollow body design for increased ball speed and perimeter weighting for forgiveness on off-center hits.

Progression of the M2 Irons

Since its inception, TaylorMade Golf has been innovating its M Series irons. Here is a brief overview of model upgrades up until the M4:

M1

This iron set heavily emphasizes workability through its clubhead design. With a lower CG for increased forgiveness and more ability to shape shots, the M1 has efficient navigation through the turf.

M2

The M2 irons utilize the then-new Thick-Thin Fluted Hosel to lower the center of gravity, allowing for optimal ball flight and increased distance. Similar to the M1, the M2 features a compact clubhead.

M3

The M3 utilizes RIBCOR and Max-COR technologies. This tech adds distance through increased ball speed. RIBCOR tightens dispersion off the clubface, and Max-COR promotes consistent shots off the clubface, even on the heel and toe.

M4

The M4 has slightly more advanced technology that increases distance, accuracy, and forgiveness. These clubs feature a new weighting position aimed at increasing forgiveness, in addition to the tight dispersion the RIBCOR technology is known to offer.

👍 Pros
The M2s have been very forgiving, and when you make full contact with the ball, it has a really nice sound. Highly recommended.
Super forgiving with excellent distance. The ball jumps off the face and flies much straighter than my previous clubs.
The ball flight is controllable to a degree, but these babies were made to go straight.
👎 Cons
I’ve used these clubs less than a dozen times and the plastic is broken already.
The shorter irons definitely don't have as much "feel" as a forged players club, but I will take consistency and forgiveness over a little extra feel.
They ding up easily and mark up even easier. I would be surprised if they last a season or two.
The M2 Irons have an explosive feel and mid-to-low spin. They are designed to make your shots go straighter. These irons are perfect for beginners who are looking to increase their distance and accuracy, and for players who aren't worried about shaping their shots. The wide sole and forgiveness are standout features, making the M2s incredibly easy to use. The perimeter weighting and face tech work together to minimize distance loss on off-center hits, ensuring consistency throughout your round.
