The Callaway Apex Pro Irons are designed for skilled golfers looking for game enhancement with added control and feel. Featuring premium forged construction with added tungsten weighted inserts, these irons are easy to hit, have a responsive feel, and deliver pro-level launch and trajectory. The wide grooves in the clubface provide more consistent spin and control. The Callaway Apex Pro Irons feature a progressive set design, with the longer irons (3-5) having more offset and tungsten inserts for higher launch and added forgiveness. The Pro line utilizes the same responsive feel of Callaway’s previous iron series but uses a more compact head and thinner sole to launch higher and fly farther.

### Expert Notes

These are premium player irons, best suited for more advanced golfers. The Apex Pro Irons use a 360 Face Cup. Essentially, this makes the irons faster. This also helps with off-center hits. Inside each head is around 50g of tungsten. In the longer irons, the CG is positioned lower towards the toe to help with ball speed on off-center hits. In the shorter irons, it is slightly higher to increase ball flight. Compared to the Apex CF 19 irons, the Pro’s have less offset and a thinner top line. Overall, these are quality irons for lower handicappers.

Callaway has redefined distance irons by utilizing technology from fairway woods to create the XR iron sets. The 360 Cup Face technology maximizes ball speeds through added flex upon impact. The Internal Standing Wave moves the center of gravity (CG) lower and forward to increase the moment of inertia (MOI) for increased forgiveness. With a lower CG and higher MOI, the face cup is able to generate more ball speed for higher distance. XR irons are an excellent option for all levels of golfers seeking an easier launch off the tee, greater forgiveness, and added distance behind their shot.

### Expert Notes

Callaway XR irons have a “cup 360” around the head, which is a thin metal that produces flex upon impact. The more flex a club has, the more ball speed you’ll get. Callaway also used the internal standing wave design from their fairway woods in these irons, which effectively lowers the CG. You will experience a medium amount of offset upon address, and the top line looks very similar to the X2 Hot irons. Lastly, it should be noted that these are cavity back irons; if that’s your preference, the Callaway XR’s are a great option.

Callaway utilizes a piece of steel infused polyurethane between the body and face that absorbs negative vibrations at impact and lowers the CG to improve both sound and feel. Callaway Steelhead XR iron sets come standard with the True Temper XP95 steel shaft.

### Expert Notes

The Callaway Steelhead XR irons offer a mid-size top line and a very small offset. The head is larger and the shaft is shorter than the XR’s, but we can tell you that the Steelhead XR’s are among the most powerful and forgiving irons on the market right now. These clubs are great for those who have a slower swing speed. Additionally, Callaway has modified the CG in the head to produce better launch. Overall, the Steelhead XR irons are designed to improve your game. They’re fun to hit, and you’ll experience plenty of power and accuracy.
