Ping G430 Max Fairway Wood
Designed for maximum forgiveness, the G430 Max Fairway Wood features a composite Carbonfly Wrap that allows weight to be repositioned for higher launch and longer distance. It also has a fixed tungsten backweight to ensure forgiveness on off-center hits. With its distance-boosting technology and forgiving design, the G430 Max is a great choice for golfers of all skill levels looking to add some extra yards to their game.
Key features include:
Carbonfly Wrap | Utilizes a lightweight composite crown that wraps into the heel and toe sections of the skirt, shedding weight compared to a traditional titanium crown. |
Spinsistency | The loft is slightly reduced near the sole of the clubhead, normalizing spin across the face, particularly on lower strikes where golfers tend to lose distance due to excessive spin. |
Facewrap Technology | Increases flexing across the face at impact, leading to faster ball speeds and potentially greater distance |
G430 High Launch | An aluminum backweight combines with an optimized grip to create a lighter build which aids players with slower swing speeds. |
Adjustability | With Trajectory Tuning 2.0, the hosel sleeve features eight positions for players to customize their trajectory to optimize distance and accuracy. |
Top Competitors
The Callaway Paradym Fairway Wood utilizes AI to create its Jailbreak Batwing technology, maximizing face flexibility for increased ball speed and distance. It also features high-density tungsten weighting, similar to the Ping's CG focus, promoting a lower center of gravity for optimal launch and spin, ultimately aiming for forgiveness. The TaylorMade Stealth Fairway Wood is a strong competitor with its own advancements. The Stealth uses a 3D Carbon Crown to achieve a lower center of gravity, similar to the Ping, promoting higher launch and forgiveness. Additionally, it boasts Twist Face Technology to straighten out off-center hits for more consistent distance and accuracy.
Progression of the G430 Max fairway wood:
The Ping G430 Max builds on the strengths of the G425 Max by offering a higher launch, more forgiveness, and greater adjustability. Here's how the G430 Max builds upon the G425 Max:
- At address, the G430 MAX has several subtle changes from its predecessor. First, there’s a carbon fiber crown. Second, the alignment aid has been simplified from three dots to one. Finally, there’s a subtle white and yellow graphic around the heel and toe.
- The G430 Max employs a redesigned Carbonfly Wrap technology that more effectively positions the CG lower and closer to the hitting zone. This refinement translates to a higher launch and more forgiveness compared to the G425 Max.
- The G430 Max features a lightweight, aerodynamic hosel sleeve (Tractory Tuning 2.0) that offers more adjustability options (loft and lie) compared to the G425 Max.

Bought these last year. Fantastic contact and distance. The feel is great. |
The 430 Max is a very forgiving and consistent club to use. |
Best clubs to buy used. They hold up great over extended use. Super forgiving and consistent. |

Not the easiest to flight low into the wind. |
The head is phenomenal but the shaft is poorly constructed. |
I am a Ping Guy all the way, I just do not enjoy this club. |
Ping coined the word "spinsistency" in its marketing, which describes the attempt to minimize the variation in spin rate depending on where you hit the ball on the face. Players who want more consistent distance control and predictable spin will love the G420 Max. This club also comes in an LST and SFT model. The 3-wood is great off the tee and the 5-wood is easy off the fairway. I’d recommend this club to mid to high-handicappers with a developing swing.
