Rawlings Pro Preferred models have been my standard for top-notch baseball gloves ever since I knew what baseball was. And the newest 2023 Pro Preferred releases utilize the same world-class kip leather and sheepskin palm lining that initially convinced me that Pro Preferred’s are the world’s most comfortable glove. Not to mention that Rawlings offers player-specific models for guys like Mike Trout, Ronald Acuña, Kris Bryant and Gerrit Cole—ever heard of them? ### Expert Notes

The Rawlings Quatro features a decent sized barrel and has little to no feedback on the hands during mishits. It’s one of the best BBCOR bat options out there, in our opinion. The exit speed is phenomenal, and the only drawback we’ve noticed is that it’s not very durable. 

The only major difference between the 2018 Quatro and the 2017 version is the swing weight. Although the swing weight change is not very dramatic (aka they did not go all the way from an end load to a balanced) it is enough to make a noticeable difference. The swing weight change was created by the redevelopment of the end cap and the extended inner sleeve. More bulk was removed from those elements, which caused the swing weight to drop significantly. The principle is simple enough: the more weight that is taken from the end of a bat, the less strength is required to spin it around by the knob. This insight relies on the basic principles of Mass Moment of Inertia (or MOI).

* My son enjoyed using the Rawlings bat and liked the popping sound. However, the knob broke off after only six months of use. We contacted Rawlings and they sent us a new bat as a replacement. Unfortunately, the knob on the new bat broke off again after just three months of use.

* Rawlings 2-piece bats are inferior quality they break easy and can’t withstand use over time.

The Quatro Pro launched in 2019. Even today, it's one of the hottest bats out there. If you can find one, the Quatro Pro is a great performer; it is lightweight, easy to swing, and has a ton of pop. Probably one of the top five BBCOR bats of all time. 

The first two years had breakage issues. Since then, Rawlings has made some adjustments to the barrel, thickened the sidewalls and made the bat more durable, but in doing so, they lessened the performance. The later models are not as popular as the early ones.
