Rawlings excels when it comes to producing gloves for every age, skill level, and price
point—proven by their Premium glove series. The most recent Premium model was
released in 2021, and features the same durable leather that's easy to close (and that youth players 
love), Yet, the newest release did switch up
the glove’s palm and web color, moving away from black and in favor of dark brown
– which I feel compliments this glove’s old fashioned feel. What hasn’t changed about
the Premium series is that the gloves endure for seasons on end, and often remain
good enough for a youth player to use until it’s time to get an adult glove. Over anything
else, kids want a glove they can trust. And Rawlings Premium gloves are as trustworthy
as they come.

Youth baseball’s favorite glove continues to impress. Rawlings incorporated everything
that professional players love about Rawlings gloves, and distilled them into a series
meant for kids. The Highlight Series gloves provides extra palm protection, so players
stay safe in the field, along with completely closed basket webs that I’ve noticed are
always a favorite within youth baseball. What’s best of all is that Highlight series gloves
come in a variety of eye-catching colors that kids love, including pink, purple, red, and
blue—well, not just kids, because I’m 25 years old and love those colors too. Equipping

Rawlings Pro Preferred models have been my standard for top-notch baseball gloves ever since I knew what baseball was. And the newest 2023 Pro Preferred releases utilize the same world-class kip leather and sheepskin palm lining that initially convinced me that Pro Preferred’s are the world’s most comfortable glove. Rawlings Heart of the Hide gloves are famous for the top-grade, USA steerhide leather they’re crafted from, which makes for a firm and sturdy glove that so many players love. Over time, Heart of the Hide gloves have been remodeled to make them easier to break in and cater more towards players’ specific tastes. The newest Heart of the Hide release is Rawlings’ ‘Gameday 57’ series, which celebrates the MLB’s annual “Gold Glove Award” (introduced in 1957), by individually numbering each model—making every glove a one-of-one collector’s item and on-field gem. Rawlings Renegade gloves are perfect for kids who are still versatile enough to play
every position on the field. The most recent Renegade models evolved from older
versions by including a Velcro wrist strap that makes for an easy fit, a pro mesh back
design that I’ve heard youth players are enamored with, and a black, red, and gray
colorway that I’m sure will accent any team’s jersey colors. Yet, newer Renegade
models mirror the older by using the same full-grain leather, deep pocket, and palm pad
for added protection. The Rawlings Renegade glove series covers all the bases and

Rawlings’ patented hinge system provides a focused flex, which helps hitters generate incredible pop. A lightweight endcap reduces swing weight and helps generate great swing speed, while vibration dampening technology reduces hand sting to prevent any pain when you make contact with a pitch. For elite level hitters, be sure to check out the Quatro College/High School Bat (-3), or the 2018 Quatro USA Baseball Bat (-10).


### Expert Notes

The Rawlings Quatro features a decent sized barrel and has little to no feedback on the hands during mishits. It’s one of the best BBCOR bat options out there, in our opinion. The exit speed is phenomenal, and the only drawback we’ve noticed is that it’s not very durable. 

The only major difference between the 2018 Quatro and the 2017 version is the swing weight. Although the swing weight change is not very dramatic (aka they did not go all the way from an end load to a balanced) it is enough to make a noticeable difference. The swing weight change was created by the redevelopment of the end cap and the extended inner sleeve. More bulk was removed from those elements, which caused the swing weight to drop significantly. The principle is simple enough: the more weight that is taken from the end of a bat, the less strength is required to spin it around by the knob. This insight relies on the basic principles of Mass Moment of Inertia (or MOI).

### Expert Notes
The longest lasting metal bat series on the market is still at its peak. Rawlings legendary Velo series returned in 2022, with a Velo ACP release that I’ve heard hitters say offers unparalleled balance at the plate. Over time, the Rawlings Velo series has evolved by incorporating the ACP (Accelerated Carbon Performance) line that adds extra carbon in the barrel, which we’ve heard does a lot to increase pop. While Velo’s aren’t the best looking bats you’re going to find, they make up for the plainness with top-notch performance. Rawlings’ resilient Velo series should continue to be a favorite for hard-nosed hitters who prefer production over flash.
