They took the same design from the CAT8 and strengthened the CAT9 with a stronger alloy to avoid any denting issues. It's a very good, durable bat. The CAT9 will be a bit heavier than the CAT8; it's a better bat for stronger kids. The first generation of the CAT9 came out with a gray, black, and red paint job. The second generation they called the Past Time, which was red, white, and blue. It's the same bat, but a different paint job. The second bat was more popular simply because of how it looked. Everyone likes the American Flag with its Stars and Stripes.

The CF Zen has been discontinued. The early models from 2017 - 2021 were called CF Zens. After that, DeMarini changed the name to CF. The first models of the CF Zen were very high-performance. But they also tended to break, so DeMarini made them stronger, made them stiffer, made them more durable. And when they did that, the bats didn't hit as well. The early models were better performers than the later models.

The Voodoo is an older model. It's been discontinued and replaced by a new bat called The Goods. Both are very similar in design. The Voodoo is a heavier bat designed for larger players who want more power and distance. This USA bat is designed for little league or a pony leagues. It won't be a very high-performance bat and, in general, is designed for safety. Typically, your little leaguer, who uses the USA stamp, is a player at an entry-level ability. With that said, the Ghost X Hyperlite was one of the best available USA bats. But any USA bat is going to be a mediocre performer overall. The Ghost X Hyperlite is very lightweight and very easy to swing. Smaller players do well with it.

The CAT9 Composite comes in two designs across two generations. The first, released in 2021, is gray, black, and red. And then it came out in red, white, blue, and gray. The first model was a more powerful, higher-performing bat. It has more exit velocity and is a hotter bat than the 2nd gen. Very durable, with very little breakage. Marucci's, across the board, have been good bats in terms of quality; they seem to last. Whether you're a power hitter or a small kid, the CAT9 Composite does very well.

Although Easton’s Ghost X bat series was discontinued in 2019, it continues to haunt pitchers (including me). Power hitters in particular rave about how big the two-piece, composite Ghost X bat’s barrel is while not sacrificing swing speed, which leads to smashing balls on the sweet spot. The most recent 2019 Ghost X evolved from older Ghost models by allowing for very little vibration when you hitters out there get jammed on a filthy inside fastball. The natural evolution from Easton’s legendary Mako bat series, their Ghost X bat line is still highly sought after by hitters of all ages and skill levels. And since a Ghost X bats’ power doesn’t diminish over time, you hitters should expect a power boost when wielding this Easton stick at the dish.

Rawlings’ patented hinge system provides a focused flex, which helps hitters generate incredible pop. A lightweight endcap reduces swing weight and helps generate great swing speed, while vibration dampening technology reduces hand sting to prevent any pain when you make contact with a pitch. ### Expert Notes

The Rawlings Quatro features a decent sized barrel and has little to no feedback on the hands during mishits. It’s one of the best BBCOR bat options out there, in our opinion. The exit speed is phenomenal, and the only drawback we’ve noticed is that it’s not very durable. 

The only major difference between the 2018 Quatro and the 2017 version is the swing weight. Although the swing weight change is not very dramatic (aka they did not go all the way from an end load to a balanced) it is enough to make a noticeable difference. The swing weight change was created by the redevelopment of the end cap and the extended inner sleeve. More bulk was removed from those elements, which caused the swing weight to drop significantly. The principle is simple enough: the more weight that is taken from the end of a bat, the less strength is required to spin it around by the knob. This insight relies on the basic principles of Mass Moment of Inertia (or MOI).
