In men's lacrosse, a goalie stick head is much larger than player sticks and must be between 10 and 12 inches wide under NCAA regulations or up to 15 inches (38 cm) wide under FIL regulations.

When measured top to bottom a lacrosse goalie head must not exceed 16.5 inches.

There is no pocket depth limit for goalies, so they can be as deep as desired to suit the player's needs. Typically, it is standard for goalie pockets to be at least 2-3 balls deep. This increased depth allows goalies to withstand the considerable force of oncoming lacrosse shots when they're in goal and ensure a smooth, controlled save.
