Goalie sticks are by far the most unique of all lacrosse sticks. Though they share some similarities with attack and defenseman sticks, goalie sticks have their own distinct characteristics that set them apart from their counterparts. The head of a goalie stick is larger and is designed to absorb impact, while protecting and deflecting the ball.

By rule, when measured from the bottom of the stick to the top of the head, a regulation men's lacrosse goalie stick must be between 40 and 72 inches (102 to 183 cm) long.

Per NCAA lacrosse stick regulations, wooden lacrosse sticks are legal as the rules state that "the crosse shall be made of wood, laminated wood or synthetic material, with the head approximately perpendicular to the handle.”

A new lacrosse goalie stick may feel stiff when you first pick it up. To improve performance and cut down on break in time, wet the stick with conditioner and store it overnight with a heavy lacrosse ball. After the stick dries, the mesh will stiffen so be sure to pound the pocket again and throw with it to re-break it in.
