- I did a lot of research. I'm a mid-handicap player at 69 years old. I played my first round after a month off and was extremely surprised by the feel, sound, control, and distance.

- The first thing I noticed was the exceptional feel of the club through the swing. With Callaway's new design, I feel more connected to the driver's head from start to finish.

- There's a solid sound and "pop" as it comes off the club face; it's not metallic or flat. They nailed the sound on this driver.

- The body is too weak for high swing speed. I have to swing with less strength than usual. I don't think the carbon body was a good choice. 

- The price is too high for a club that cannot withstand strong hits. My club's carbon body shattered at impact. 

- I was disappointed the club didn't come with an adjustment tool for the head.

If you were a fan of the original XR Driver, you’ll really like the XR 16. The Speed Step is closer to the crown on this version, which makes this club extra forgiving. You will notice the head shape is longer than the XR as well. Callaway also made the R-MOTO ribs longer to enable the face to flex more, resulting in increased ball speed. You will enjoy hitting this club, as it is one of the best drivers Callaway has made to date.

Callaway’s Big Bertha Alpha Driver was the world’s first driver to offer an adjustable center of gravity with its Gravity Core technology. This revolutionary driver allows golfers to adjust the vertical center of gravity up or down on their club and to adjust spin independent of launch angle. The Alpha driver’s performance is actually dictated by four dimensions of adjustability including loft, lie, perimeter weights, and Gravity Core. The innovative Hyper Speed Face increases ball speeds for longer, more consistent drives. The Big Bertha Alpha has a Gravity Core lets you adjust unwanted spin independently of launch angles. You can expect longer drives from this club -- it’s a really fun club to swing. It doesn’t have an alignment aid, so you can place your ball from the toe to the heel. The depth of the head and overall shape gives this driver a softer sound at impact, but it still goes a long way. If you prefer to tinker with shot shapes, this may be the perfect driver for you. You can make the weight heavier in the toe or heel, as it can be adjusted quite easily.
