A football girdle is a piece of protective gear worn by players to provide support and cushion key areas of the body, especially the hips, thighs, and tailbone. It looks similar to compression shorts but is equipped with built-in pads that are strategically placed to offer protection against impacts during the game.

An important factor to consider is girdle sizing.

• Players with a waist size between 28” and 30” should wear an adult small. 
• Adult large girdles are best suited for waist sizes between 36 and 38 inches.
• For youth girdles, a small/medium girdle will fit waists between 20 and 26 inches.
• Youth-large girdles will fit waist sizes in the range of 28 to 34 inches. 

Girdles should be tight but not restrictive and shouldn't move out of place while you’re playing. Girdles provide extra padding to your hips, tailbone, and thighs, but you want to ensure this padding is high quality. Choose foam that's proven effective in absorbing shock energy but isn't too bulky. Choosing a fabric with antimicrobial properties can also be a bonus, leaving you feeling fresher for longer.
