Maverik Tactik 3.0 Head

The Maverik Tactik 3.0 Lacrosse Head builds upon the legacy of its predecessor as a mid-range attacker's dream. This updated iteration boasts ControlCore Technology, designed to enhance ball control for improved cradling, passing, and shooting. The 20 stringing holes offer extensive customization options to create a mid-pocket ideal for both power and finesse. Additionally, the stiff yet lightweight construction ensures durability without sacrificing maneuverability.

Maverik has established itself as a brand focused on player innovation and pushing the boundaries of equipment design. The Tactik 3.0 exemplifies this approach, offering refined features that cater to the evolving needs of offensive players.

Top Competitor Comparisons: the STX Stallion 1K and the Nike L3

While the Maverik Tactic 3.0 reigns supreme for versatile midfielders with its stiff construction, well-balanced pocket, and diverse stringing options, competitors offer unique strengths. The STX Stallion 1K caters to offensive specialists with its aggressive pocket and focus on power shots. Its wider face shape and deeper pocket might not offer the same level of control as the Tactic 3.0, but it excels in generating raw power. The Nike L3 takes a balanced approach, boasting a mid-pocket suitable for both powerful shots and controlled passing. Compared to the Tactic, the L3 might have a slightly less aggressive scoop design, potentially impacting ground ball collection in tight situations.

Progression:

  • Updated pocket design for optimal hold and release

What people are saying (edited for brevity and clarity)

PROS

  • Strung traditional head with pita pocket. Customizable string holes. Easy to string and looks great.
  • Ground ball machine. The pocket is fantastic and has excellent ball control
  • My son plays middie, and he loves the curve that helps with picking up the ball.

CONS

  • Although designed for a mid pocket, I found the stock pocket to be shallower than expected.
  • Super stiff head, you will need to spend some time breaking this head in before playing.
  • Not ready right out of the box. Once broken in, it performed great for me.

Expert Review (by Allen Melick)

Building off of the first two generations, this head is designed for the offensive midfielders. Maverik designed this head to have accurate shooting and precision passing, all while providing advanced ball control. Compared to the previous models, the 3.0 has a concave pattern at the top of the scoop. Just like the Optik 3.0, this head has 20 sidewall holes allowing for the player to customize their pocket.
