Snowboard jackets incorporate many different technologies to allow for optimal performance and comfort. Hard shell jackets are waterproof and allow for layering underneath, while technical shells, which are also waterproof, allow for maximum breathability, making them ideal for backcountry snowboarding. 3-in-1 jackets give riders the most versatility, with a waterproof, breathable shell and either a technical fleece or inner insulated jacket. Insulated jackets have a waterproof outer shell and either a down or synthetic lining. Additionally, vents and adjustable cuffs allow for a high degree of customization. Vents allow cooling without having to unzip the jacket, and adjustable cuffs allow a rider to wear different types of gloves without having to buy multiple jackets. Varied types of lining, from nylon taffeta to fleece or satin, provide a wide array of options as well.

Snowboard Jacket Sizing Guide

When getting sized for a snowboarding jacket, several measurements are taken to ensure proper fit and comfort. First, the neck and chest are measured at the points with the largest circumference. Additionally, sleeve length is measured in one of two ways, either from the center of the back down the sleeve, or from the side of the neck down the sleeve. Additionally, waist and hip circumferences are also measured to ensure appropriate fit. Depending on the manufacturer, sizing conventions may differ slightly, though all provide sizing charts with corresponding measurements to ensure that you get the proper jacket.
