The Zipp 303 wheelset is a true all-around wheel choice when it comes to road cycling, as it is adept in many different riding scenarios. They have been loaded with innovative improvements over the years. Zipp 303 wheels have an updated rim profile aimed at reducing aerodynamic drag, which leads to more speed. Zipp’s trademarked ABLC Sawtooth technology is a unique dimple pattern on the rim, which helps to achieve what Zipp calls greater “AeroBalance.” This is basically the optimization of crosswind stabilization and drag. Zipp also has a trademarked rim braking surface, ShowStopper, which is a heat-resistant textured surface intended to deliver great performance in wet or dry conditions.

The Zipp 808 offers the same technological aspects as the Zipp 303 and 404. The main difference is in the rim depth, with the 808 being 82mm deep. The 808 is known as being the fastest wheel outside of a full disc.

The 808 is the deepest it gets in the line of Zipp wheels without becoming a disc. This wheel is designed with ultimate performance in mind. It is super stiff for high speeds, yet with its shape it handles like a shallower wheel. It performs so well, that the previously deeper 1080 had to be dropped from the line. The 808 is best used as a rear wheel, but can still work up front when it is not too windy out. The best thing about the 808 is it provides a disc-like feel without the inconvenience of a disc and greater versatility. This wheel is better suited for more experienced riders.
