Top Competitors

The Bauer Mach boasts the lightest weight and fastest rebounds with its innovative materials, ideal for agile goalies who rely on quick movements. CCM Extreme Flex II Pro offers a classic, well-balanced feel with good rebound control, making it a versatile choice for a wider range of goalies. True Catalyst PX3 stands out for its customizable fit and good seal, allowing for a more personalized setup and a focus on solid coverage. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your playing style and what on-ice experience you prioritize.

Progression of the Bauer mach Goalie Set

Following the success of the Ultrasonic line, the Mach sheds weight and enhances mobility. This is achieved through several key upgrades:

  • SL1D3R skin on the leg pads.
  • A new strapping system with TuneFit+
  • A new calf bracket and landing
  • HD foam to the toe bridge.
  • The Mach glove features a new range of motion strap.
  • No more metal eyelets and rebound control foams added to the glove palm.
  • Adjusted blocker sidewall and newly designed wrist cuff.
👍 Pros
The palm feels like memory foam, really molds to your hand. Love the silicone grips down the finger slots.
Everything that hit my glove was directed to the pocket. I think it’s because of the 75-degree closure.
These are super stiff and give hard rebounds. Highly recommend this set.
👎 Cons
These pads are noticeably stiffer than Ultrasonic and Hyperlite.
The toe ties are very short and tight. The Hyperlite ties were a perfect balance of thickness, length, and stretchiness, but the Mach ones have caused knee torque/twist issues.
The strapping is simple but not adjustable enough for someone with large calves.
The Mach took what was on the Ultrasonic ( an integrated knee, a very flat face, predictable rebounds, and a simplified strapping system) and then also added an internal calf bracket to give a lot more support underneath the leg. Basically, the internal Stabilislide knee block was added into the calf providing the same support. So the Mach is known for having a great seal and awesome rebounds. It also has an excellent slide and a very square butterfly. The only potential downside to the Mach is because of the extra internal calf bracket, the pads are too square and supportive and the feedback I’ve heard is, "My body hurts; I can't use these."
