CCM Axis 2 Pro Goalie Full Set
The CCM Axis 2 Pro goalie full set builds on the successful Axis 1 line with enhancements for elite goalies. It features CCM's lightweight Speed Skin material for improved glide efficiency and a combination of PE foam and D30 Smart Material for better impact absorption, protection, and flexibility. Additionally, the glove includes a redesigned catching pocket for enhanced puck handling.
Key features include:
Dynamic Response System (DRS) Pro | A one-piece HD foam landing zone designed to increase both the seal and stability. |
D3O Smart Material Technology | Incorporated in key areas for impact absorption, offering a balance of protection and flexibility for a close fit and good rebound control. |
Quick Motions Strap System | Includes a molded upper calf strap to help with optimal leg positioning and pad rotation. |
Glove Cross Form Strap | Secures the back of the hand via multiple attachment points; this allows for greater responsiveness while still allowing for mobility. |
LITECORE Blocker Design | The lightest board CCM has ever produced. The LITECORE material is also designed to produce the most powerful rebounds ever seen off the blocker. |
Lightweight Construction | Achieved through materials like Speed Skin and strategically placed foams, allowing for improved mobility and quicker reflexes. |

The Supreme Mach offers a counterpoint to the Axis 2 Pro's mobility focus. It prioritizes stability with a stiffer feel, ideal for goalies who like a strong base for powerful pushes. This is achieved through a one-piece thermoformed shin and boot construction. While the Mach feels slightly less agile, it provides a solid foundation for aggressive movements and confident shot-stopping. The EFlex 4 is renowned for its unmatched flexibility. This caters to butterfly goalies who rely on a wide range of motion for reactionary saves and acrobatic maneuvers. The EFlex 4 refines this focus by incorporating strategically placed flex zones, allowing for a close fit while maximizing mobility for those all-important butterfly slides.
Progression of the Axis 2 Pro Goalie Set
The Axis line represents a significant departure from the Premier line that preceded it. The Axis features CCM’s first bindingless-faced pad, UV Printing, and a HEXA Print on multiple zones. It has a notably flatter, more flexible boot break and the loss of rounded inner edges. The biggest change in the Axis pad is the addition of L1TEXCORE, an upgraded injection-molded core that creates a thinner profile and lighter pad.
Taking what they learned from the original Axis and the Premier series, CCM has made a few key upgrades to the Axis 2:
-
The blocker is less restrictive in the thumb area.
-
The wrist mobility of the Axis 2 is better than anything previously built.
-
Lack of finger gussets in the glove, CCM has introduced the “Form Fit” finger system.
-
Multiple adjustment straps (two) on the inside of the glove.
-
Glove weighs less than 1000g.
-
The leg pad face is the stiffest CCM has ever produced.
-
The upgraded Quick Motion Strap System fits slightly tighter than before.

The Axis 2 is a very hard pad. It kicks pucks way far out of the danger zone. |
Firm yet comfortable knee block. CCM has used a new knee block material which is super durable. |
I love this set. Its flexible, mobile boot area allows me to move and load with power, but it also has a stiff, rigid face for active regions that gives me time to recover. |

The sizing can be a bit weird on these. On the Axis, I would size down a bit. |
Not loving the Speed Skin on this pad. Feels slow compared to the competition. |
It has an extra stiff/straight upper section, so the five-hole was tricky to close but just took some time to get used to. |
The CCM Axis 2 Pro is my favorite set to use. They have a solid inside edge, so you visibly can’t see a gap between the inside gusset and knee block; It looks like it's all one piece. It helps in sliding, and it has a very flat face as well. They redesigned the glove and blockers, making them a lot lighter. They have a very unique strapping system across the back of the hand. Instead of having individual finger stalls where you put your hand into the glove, there are no individual finger stalls but ratchet straps across your hand (I call it an oven mitt glove). Not everyone likes it. This specific strapping is found on the 591 break option. I had a really bad tendon surgery, so I don't have the best hand strength. For me, the "oven mitt glove" works well.
