Sidi Dominator 5 Fit Mega MTB cycling shoes feature Italian craftsmanship with functional design. A durable cycling shoe and built on quality, Sidi Dominator 5 Fit Mega shoes are constructed from Lorica Microfiber, which combines heightened flexibility and breathability for your feet. The Mega version is specifically made for wider feet and provides approximately 3-4mm of extra material around the cleat area. Sidi shoes are known to run a size smaller, so buyers are advised to choose one size larger than their current shoe size. These cycling shoes utilize breathable and durable Technomicro microfiber vented uppers with cooling mesh panels to keep feet cool and comfortable on hot days. The caliber buckle is a 2-way ratchet that allows for easy on-bike adjustment during a race with incremental tightening and loosening. All buckles, straps, and mechanisms are serviceable and replaceable. The padded tongues eliminate pressure points on the feet and heel cups help stabilize and support your heels to reduce heel slip and provide added foot protection.

Zipp 404 wheels are Zipp’s original do-it-all wheel, with balanced rim depth that allows for efficient use in any riding condition. Its proprietary technology is the same as on the 303 model. The ABLC sawtooth and ShowStopper technologies are very prevalent with this rim. Another feature that Zipp uses here is their trademarked Moto technology, which is a single-walled rim that allows each side of the spokebed to have some movement when facing rougher terrain. This offers more compliance to make for a smoother ride over obstacles. All of this adds up to equal better durability and control at higher speeds.  


### Expert Notes

At 58mm deep, Zipp 404s are very well-balanced, between having enough aerodynamics and stiffness for speed, and being lightweight enough to ensure quality crosswind handling. The 404 is in the middle between the 303 and 808. It looks more like the 303 because it is closer in depth, yet its aerodynamics perform closer to those of the 808. On windy days, 404 wheels can be mixed and matched: you can ride with a 303 in the front, or the 404 can be used as a front with the same or deeper in the rear. The 404 truly provides an excellent middle ground option for all types of riders.

The most noticeable characteristic of the Zipp 303 is it features a shallower rim than the 404 and 808. This means the wheel will have better crosswind performance, and is lighter in weight. This option is great for riders who are concerned about wind or hills. It also is an appealing option for smaller riders, and those who are less experienced. It is best used as a front wheel, as rear wheels are better off having deeper rims for optimized aero performance. When the wind catches on your front wheel, it affects the handling, causing a constant fight to maintain control. This is where the shallower 303 really comes in handy. With its flexibility in varying conditions and speeds, the 303 has become the do-it-all front wheel choice for many riders who use Zipp wheels.
