The Maverik Tank 2.0 stands as a monument to defensive prowess within Maverik's lacrosse history. This ultra-stiff head (the stiffest Maverik has ever made) caters to the enforcer on the field, boasting unmatched rigidity with the 6-strut Xrail design and Duratough materials, a wide face shape, and a high pocket design.

The Tank 2.0 integrates into Maverik's defensive legacy. Following a lineage of reliable defensive heads, it takes stiffness and ground ball control seriously. This uncompromising head caters to defenders who prioritize stopping power and ball possession.

Top Competitor Comparisons: the ECD Rebel Defense and the STX Hammer 1K

In the defensive realm, the Maverik Tank 2.0 squares off against the ECD Rebel Defense and STX Hammer 1K, each offering a unique blend of strength and control. The Tank 2.0 boasts a mid-pocket depth and a balanced face shape, excelling at both powerful checks and controlled ground ball pick-up. The ECD Rebel Defense features a slightly shallower pocket and a pinched face shape, ideal for precise checks and maintaining tight possession control in close defensive situations. Conversely, the STX Hammer 1K prioritizes loose ball dominance with its wider face and shallower pocket, making it a weapon for scooping ground balls and winning battles in open spaces.

What people are saying (edited for brevity and clarity)

PROS

  • Perfect defensive head. Wide scoop and stiff as a rock. Accurate passes and getting great shots for a defensive head.
  • It's good for defense but a bit wide for LSM; still usable for it though. Doesn't warp easily.
  • It’s a very stiff head, perfect for scooping up ground balls.

CONS

  • The head needs a significant break-in period to feel comfortable.
  • The face shape doesn't create an ideal channel for a tight hold on the ball, impacting my ground ball control and takeaways.
  • It can be difficult to string as the head is so wide.

Expert Review (by Allen Melick)

This is my favorite defensive head by far. It has a wider face than the first generation to make knocking passes down and transition that much easier. The head is incredibly stiff and holds its shape a lot longer and better than other defensive heads. I used this head through all 5 years of college, and the 2.0 is on both sticks I use right now for my men’s league. It's really durable, and you can throw up a lot of hard checks. It will for sure cause some pain when you use it.
