Description

This is a rare red #46 old logo jersey that was worn by winger Frantisek Lukes for the Phoenix Coyotes in the inaugural 4-team NHL rookie tournament in 2003 that was held in El Segundo, California and also included rookie teams from the LA Kings, San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks. The Coyotes had yet to debut their new jersey logo and colors and dressed their rookie squad in leftover red home and white road practice jerseys and added nameplates. Everything is sewn on this Jofa size 56 jersey that has a silver Center Ice patch on the right shoulder area and shows moderate overall use from the four-game tourney that the Coyotes won. Lukes was an 8th-round draft pick of Phoenix in 2001 but played in the minors from 2003-08 before heading to Europe. He has played for the Litvinov HC team in his native Czech Republic since 2006 and is still active. This jersey was obtained in a near-complete set of the 2003 Coyotes rookie tourney jerseys directly from the Coyotes in 2004.
