Best Goalie Chest and Arm Protectors of 2018

Poor padding in net can come with a hefty price. No one likes taking a shot off the rib or getting a dead arm in the net. To avoid that scenario, it’s important to consider all the options for chest and arm padding available today. Here’s how our pros rank what’s on the market this year.

1. Bauer Reactor 9000

The Bauer Reactor 9000 is the closest you're going to get to perfection on your upper body in net. While it’s designed for pro-level protection, it's extremely mobile on your chest and the padding fits especially naturally on your sternum and shoulders. Even better, it’s loaded with moisture-wicking properties, making it especially effective at combating that lethal hockey odor we all know too well.

2. CCM Premier Pro

While CCM’s Premier Pro padding may seem dizzyingly expensive at your local retail spot, on SidelineSwap, you get the same top-notch padding for half the price. That’s why we love the Premier Pro as an option for high-level goalies looking for a versatile and highly protective piece of padding. Our pros found its mix of Molded PE foam and HD Foam on the shoulders and elbows especially comfy and light. Give it a little extra time to break in, and after that, you’ll love the way these pads feel in net.

3. Vaughn Velocity V7 XF Pro Carbon

If Kevlar Ballistic plate technology doesn’t sound awesome to you, then the Vaughn Velocity V7’s probably aren’t a good fit. Here at SidelineSwap, however, we loved the idea that these pads are made from the same material as military-grade bullet vests. While you may not be feeling the impact of pucks in these, you’ll be feeling the love from your teammates as you stone snipers without a flinch.

4. CCM Extreme Flex Shield

The CCM Extreme Flex Shields aren’t for everyone. If you’re not the type who likes multi-segmented chest padding, these probably aren’t for you. We found them surprisingly comfortable however, despite the fact that they’re a little harder to equip. Their adjustable velcro straps make the fit quite comfy and customizable. Overall, a pair of these is definitely a major bang for your buck!

5. Warrior Ritual

If you’re tired of dead arms, the Warrior Ritual is another solid, highly protective choice. It's got great adjustable shoulder floaters and plenty of multi-density HD foam around the chest. On the downside, it’s a little too heavy to compete with the padding on the top of our list.
