The average sports family has $500 worth of “old” gear sitting at home.
Most don’t realize how easy it is to sell it online.
We spoke to Caelan (@callaugh), an Ohio high schooler who made $5,000 (not a typo!) selling a decade’s worth of lightly-used lacrosse and hockey gear on SidelineSwap. His tips for getting started?
- Start small. Upload a few items to test the waters.
- Set prices at least 50% off retail. (Not sure what it’s worth? A quick google search for the brand and model does the trick.
- Take good pictures. You don’t need to be an artiste (use your smartphone!), but good lighting and a solid background make all the difference. (You can see my Bucknell polo here.)
It’s that simple.
